Do it all. Read the BOOK, watch the MOVIE and listen to the SOUNDTRACK!!!
I saw the film for this book only. The book, the movie and the soundtrack loved. What an amazing story! There were things about the movie that I loved that was different in the book and there were things in the book that were different than the movie I loved. I think one should watch the movie to complete the experience. Adam and Sarah are in love, but their music seems to be pulling them apart as Adam's band gets its start with a recording contract in view and the tours. Mia is on the Juilliard and Cello player journey to be an amazing man. There are things that both Mia and Adam dislike about their relationship, such as that she does not seem to fit into Adam's world, but she loves him. Looking forward to reading Where She Went, the continuation of the story of Mia and Adam 3 years later.

   Loved this story
This story has been loved! The characters all seem so real, so believable. Each with thier own quirks and very different personalities, I didn 't want to stop reading, I needed to know what was next! And just when I thought I could easily guess what was coming next, bam! So nice to find a writer who is not afraid of changing things up. Weaving a cast of characters that are so different from one another yet have so much in common. I appreciate the fine detail that was placed in front of me gruesome or not, but they need to take a step back and put it all into perspective. All of the seemingly insignificant details make this story very real and allows the reader to live in the midths of all the people in this story. I want more ''.

How did it take so long for me to hear about this book?
I saw the preview of the film version of the book and my friend leaned over in the theater to say : Buy and read this one now if you haven ’ ; already. '' I ordered it on my phone before the preview was over. I drank it not just ; I read it. Despite the horrible thing that happens, Mia's voice was so clear, so steady and the decision she has to make. Her present and past feel natural and true, the weight and sway of her time in figuring out what to do felt rich and real. By the time I finished the novel, I felt like I knew Mia, as if she was a real girl from my own life, and I can 't stop thinking about her. So beautifully done, I purchased Gayle Forman's other YA novel within minutes of finishing this one. What a storyteller is.

   Bit Dissapointed
The life of Mia was pretty perfect. But then a freak accident changes everything and slowly she realizes just how much she lost. I think the concept of the book was pretty interesting and there were a few snapshots of Mia's life that the heart broke a little. Overall, I was slightly disappointed by the story. The writing was a little simple, which created a missed opportunity to build a deeper connection between the reader and Mia. The ending was then super abrupt. The novel develops up to the idea that Mia was going to make a huge choice. But it just seemed like what triggered her choice was a little accidental and very sudden. It is an OK read and very quick. But you won 't be missing that much if you decide to skip the book and instead go to the movie.

Young Adult novels are super fast reads and my guilty pleasure for sure
I can not tell a lie. I am a huge YA fan ''. I like that they can take as little as a few hours to read and I am a sucker for teen love, who is not? Mia loses her entire family in a car accident and the story is told from her voice having an out of body perspective while in ICU. I loved the messages that the ones we love know that we are there even in Comas and that sometimes we make the choice to stay or move on. It was comforting to me because I just sat and held the hand of my grandfather after he slipped into a coma before he passed. I made it just in time from college and was able to hold his hand and say goodbye before he passed on just an hour or two later. It left me with the feeling that he knew we were there and that it was ok if he wanted to go. I thought it was a great story and very well written ''.

   Mixed feelings
I could not put it down on one hand, and on the other hand found the depictions of the characters to be saccharine. Everybody is cool : The scene of the family on the snow day was kind of painful to get through in the family car to see Grandma and Grandpa, and then was cutesy to drive by just because it felt so scripted. It did not sound like real people. The other scene where the rock stars try to create a diversion in the hospital was incredibly stupid and pointless. It had already been pounded into our heads that these people are a great short community, we did not need to be tightened for this, and I feel like if this had been a little bit loosen, it could have been a close story or novella. The contents are there, the execution was a little little fluffy. And if you like sweet-sour stories, you'll love them.

   Great Book Club Book
It was ripe for discussion as to whether or not the right decision was made and why. For those who had seen the movie before reading the book, some of the additional details and information given in the book made the decision that ultimately made more sense to them. Our book club is soon going to watch the movie together and then discuss it again! )
