A must read for parents, educators, policy makers and YOU!
A book like this provides a fundamental blueprint for understanding why we are in this place to begin with... but also makes us think about what we can actually do.
Is formal ed about education jobs or child preparedness
Ken and Kate have done a masterful job in laying the challenge and solving the solution. The challenge lies in assuming that we can shove children through a system that standardizes them to please society at large. The solution is to change the way we think, which is extremely difficult because we are standardized widgets produced by this system so that we lack the skills to think in a way that would transform learning in children so that we are prepared for their futures. This book is a must-read for anyone who has even the slightest inkling of concern about what is happening to our children.
   What is education?
I found the book entertaining and convincing in explaining what education and stakeholders is!
A brilliant manifesto for generations to come
I have long been a reader, listener, and general fan of Sir Ken Robinson's work, so to read Imagine If and know that his daughter Kate is carrying on his legacy is an absolute thrill. The book is an easily digestible and poignant overview of many of his other works, but with a wholistic approach to education, creativity and the environment, all with an eye towards the future. This book is SO relevant for where we are now as a people and as planet, and I also purchased the audiobook, as read by his daughter Kate, as a companion piece to listen to with my nieces and nephews in the car, so that we can benefit from his wonderful and enduring message.
I was very disappointed. He clearly lays out the problems. But the solutions are vague and trite. Everybody must be better? Everyone must be more concerned with others than with themselves. I believe that has been true for a very long time and has little to show for it.
