   A must-have for any collection
I've heard of this book for a long time, but never really knew what it was about. I was immediately sucked into the story after I ordered it. The book was written in the 60s and the events took place in the 50s, making it difficult to get used to the style. It's an unbelievable story once you do. I had to remind myself that it was not a fiction. It does get a little graphic, but it's important to the story. I couldn't put it down so I finished it in a few days.

   No Blood Spilled
Blood will not be spilled on your lap or on your hands while you are reading this book. It is a chilling, unbelievable, tragic, sad and anger provoking story. The author accomplishes a means to an end of a horrible murder in an artistic way. The author's artistic style of writing makes the contents of the story interesting, but sad at the same time. The author's artistic penmanship makes the reader come face to face with feelings of sadness, anger, resentment and disbelief, but with peace of mind at the end. The reader won't want to close the book until justice is done. The author accomplishes that end in a subtle, but heart-wrenching way.

   In Cold Blood in a new edition
This is a great read, a great novel, and a great edition. The contrast of the killers, the victims, and the hunters of the killers is exemplified by the work of Capote. The paper in the book is not as heavy as in the Modern Library edition, but it is still better. Publishers need to give readers beautiful editions with real cloth covers and heavy cream paper in order to compete with Brittany Spears, life, death, taxes, and childbirth. Not a cheap cardboard edition such as my collection of Ginsberg, which is already turning brown and edging out of the binding. I would rather pay another dollar for a book that will stay intact.

   A classic for a reason
As someone who typically avoids classics, especially non-fiction classics, this book was a treat! I prefer to consume true crime via other medias but have heard amazing things about this book. It was so well-written and intriguing; I could not put it down! I highly recommend it.

I bought it in Very Good condition from Second Sale and, as always, the book came in great condition!

   Unexpected
In Cold Blood is a scary story that I wanted to make you scared. I've read it and it's not frightening or bone chilling, other than the fact that it's a true story. It's disturbing but it's not unusual given the state of the nation. The murders are more relevant now than they were when the book was written. Although sad, the story was well written and enjoyable to read, and it was easy to listen to. I switched between the two. If you're a fan of true crime, you'll love this book. I don't like horror in books because real life is worse than fiction. Imagine Truman Capote writing about crime.

   Hard to Read
I picked up this book expecting something different. The author wrote nonsensical sentences. The book was so long that it left me feeling lost among the pages, with the authors proclivity to write run of sentences that ended no where and didn't lend anything to the book. I had higher expectations.

   Vastly overrated and hyped
This beautifully written true crime story turned out not to be as accurate as the author claimed, given the revelations about the way the chief investigator and Capote cooked the narrative. One of the killers was in love with Capote. Harper Lee did most of the journalistic legwork. Journalism and creative writing professors are not happy with this book.

   Great read
The story of the murders of the Clutter family was enjoyable. Truman Capote has a nice style and way of narrating the story. The psychological aspects were interesting as he talked about the others on death row.

   A Must Read for True Crime Fans
The victims might have been killed by lightning if the crime had been a psychological accident. They had suffered, except for one thing, which they had experienced. I have read that this may be more of a true story than a true crime novel, but the writing was so interesting that I would still consider this a must read for true crime fans. The psychological aspects of the crime, the investigation, and the criminals themselves were my favorite aspect of the novel. I was interested in the psychology of the criminal justice system at that time. I was not familiar with a lot of them. I give this book 4.5 stars and recommend it.

   Students loved it.
There is more to say about Truman Capote. The students started a book club. This was the first book we read together. They wanted to read more after we finished it. The back story gives an opportunity to investigate unreliable narrators, fashioning of details, and character development.
