Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Therapy that effects change must authentically involve you, the therapist. Engaging, readable, and immediately helpful with clients, INTERPERSONAL PROCES IN THERAPY: AN INTEGRATIVE MODEL brings together various theories into a cohesive framework that centers on the therapeutic relationship. It shows you practical ways to intervene with your clients, while addressing and alleviating the concerns new therapists often have -- such as worrying about making mistakes. It also provides clear guidelines for effective (and ineffective) ways to establish a working alliance, address resistance and resolve ruptures in the therapeutic relationship, help clients transition from surface conversation to their key concerns, respond to clients' painful feelings, develop a focus for treatment, and more. Featuring new case examples and updated research, the seventh edition's extensive clinical vignettes and sample therapist-client dialogues will bring you in the room with the therapist.

I am in my second year in my graduate program and this book is motivating and inspirational. The connections and corrections between the client and the therapist are beautiful to see.
Very Helpful and Relevant to Working with Clients
Exactly as described in the summary : I wish that this had been required reading in the grad school, as it helps a lot with very helpful examples of how to use the process in the room, which is really about what therapy is all about. I highly recommend ''.
   Excellent Counseling Tools
The author provides different examples of excellent counseling sessions for counselors who are just learning. He incorporates an eclectic and integrative counseling style that can be tailored to suit many different needs of clients.
   Best book for Beginners
When we started our practice, we were asked to read this book. This is the single most helpful book that I come across in the counseling psychiatrist as a student. While other books teach you to do what you want, this one has really good vignettes to help you understand things and put them to use. I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are a novice in the field of counseling psychotherapy, regardless of your therapeutic orientation.
   Crucial reading for talk therapy
The most useful readingtext is related to clinical social work or any talk therapy. Information and insights from concrete sources. I bought the older issue and is still very relevant.
