Everything a Beginner needs.

I bought this book for my 13 year old because he knows just enough to be dangerous. COMPTIA now allows for home testing with the right setup. A lot of techs or tech wannabes will tell you that A+ is where to start. I have been in this for 38 years and I tell you to start with ITF+. Even if you have been around IT for awhile, there will be something here that you do not know.

I took my ITF Fundamentals test this morning and passed!!! This book is HIGHLY recommended, but for some people it will not be just a book and read, you will have to take notes, study materials and practice practice. This book provided an excellent voucher for the test, on the COMPTIA website it is about 125 or more and for their voucher through this book I got it for 106 dollars flat. This is highly recommended, but there is a LOT of content that has been written, so it can be easy to overwhelm yourself, just go in with an open mind and you'll get through it. )

Today I passed my exam. Didn 't read too much of the book. I also used TestOut com, which really helped supplement much of what was covered in the exam content, but overall, this was a great purchase.

Pretty straight forward, gives good info, some of it is dated, but that is IT for you, stuff changes weekly. I read it for my current course, and this book has definitely helped.

Book worth it for the practice tests

Today I took the test and got an 841900. This book gave a 35, because the book itself was not that great. The online supplementary material was even worth the $. The practice tests are particularly important. Also, do not rely on this book alone or you will be in trouble. I have also used the ITproTV video series and the ITF+ book by Quentin Docter of Sybex. The book by Sybex is WAY better. I recommend purchasing both books, the Sybex one for content and this one for its practice tests. I went through all the online resources that came with both books. I skept this book because it was almost a summary of the book by Sybex.

I love this book, it helps me understand a great deal about the components of the PC. There is a product key in the back of the book that I did not know about and it gives free access to the author's videos. There is a review test at the end of each chapter.

Pages are all stuck together and rip very easily. Very poor-quality book.

The learning material is probably going to be great, but the physical book itself is awful. The pages are all stuck together and tear when trying to turn the pages. I'm hoping the other reviews with this same complaint got just a bad batch, but mine is the same. I'll deal with carefully tearing the pages apart for this certification, but I'll also purchase my future books from a different publisher, going forward. The coupon promo code does not work either when paying for the exam.

It’s cheaper than what they charge at school

Good thing Amazon had this cheaper than what the barcode price states, this book was printed quickly and the pages are stuck together like a dog with peanut butter in its mouth and there are ink blotches all over the book.
