Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
My child is getting into Chapter Books and these are perfect. She loves the series. We can't wait to read more. It's great for kids who are starting to read chapter books. She could read many of the sight words that I read to her.

Great set
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
This is a great book for girls, and this box makes it even better, because it has a secret book. It has tons of non common words so it's a win-win. It doesn't have a lot of pictures, but I think they are enough, it's a great starting book for older kids.

Fabulous books, forget the “Karensâ€
Derived From Web , Apr 12, 2021
The Karens have negative reviews. These books are wonderful. They remind me of Ramona books when I was a child. We read them to our 5 year old. They show how normal kid thinking processes work. The negative Nancys need some humor.

Not age appropriate, teaches wrong lessons, strange book
Derived From Web , Jul 12, 2020
This book is not suitable for a young child. It has words like stupid, witchery and so on. Children are taught to hide from trouble. Images seemed frightening. She had blood on her face. A child makes their sibling upset. We didn't find the book series funny.

Bean is a mean, bratty bully
Derived From Web , Jul 8, 2020
I wanted to like this, but Bean is not a likable character. She is a bad person. She harshly judges and gives Ivy mean nicknames before even meeting her and then tries to fix her because her bathrobe turned into a witch cape. Bean is cruel to her big sister and complains constantly when she has to do something she doesn't want to do. Running away from home, sneaking kids into your bedroom while your parents are distracted, and choking people are some of the things that can be found here. A positive message in this book is overshadowed by Bean's bad behavior, which is not a good example for young girls. When your child can read on her own, complete sections and words don't fly.

Rude and obnoxious kids - no thanks.
Derived From Web , Mar 28, 2020
I have been meaning to write this for a long time, but I am happy to see other people mention it. I don't want to get this set if you have values and morals for your children. I would like to read the reviews before purchasing... The girls are brats with no respect and I don't appreciate the portrayal of sisters being enemies. The set includes a fake book that has an area to keep a top secret journal. This series encourages us to not keep secrets in our family. Mary Pope Osborne wrote Magic Treehouse. It is much better themed for this age group.

No values. Too sassy, disrespectful and mean.
Derived From Web , Jul 2, 2019
Disgusting behavior. I screen books before I give them to my kids. The first half of the book was hard for me to read. There are ways to write without being mean. How can you sell this to children? You are a shame! It was!

The kids don't model good behavior or good intentions.
Derived From Web , Jun 17, 2019
I felt it was necessary to inform potential consumers with sensitive children that I don't usually write reviews. I stopped my daughter from continuing because she only read half the first book. I didn't want her to see the bad behavior of the children in the book. The children are self centered. Don't buy these books if you want to remind your child that the behavior they are reading about is not acceptable. I got a three book set.
