Working up the courage to take a big, important leap is hard, but Jabari is almost absolutely ready to make a giant splash.
Jabari is definitely ready to jump off the diving board. He's finished his swimming lessons and passed his swim test, and he's a great jumper, so he's not scared at all. Looks easy, says Jabari, watching the other kids take their turns. But when his dad squeezes his hand, Jabari squeezes back. He needs to figure out what kind of special jump to do anyway, and he should probably do some stretches before climbing up onto the diving board. In a sweetly appealing tale of overcoming your fears, newcomer Gaia Cornwall captures a moment between a patient and encouraging father and a determined little boy you can't help but root for.It takes about 6 Hours and 11 minutes on average for a reader to read Jabari Jumps. This is based on the average reading speed of 250 Words per minute.

A sweet story

This is a beautifully written and illustrated story. My special needs middle school students enjoyed the book this summer about a boy who looks like him who overcame his fear. They also saw a city kid that was able to swim. Summer is over and I proudly display this book in my classroom.

Great message!

The story has been loved! Jabari is a very believable character as he faces his fears and uncertainties. The father in the story is great, but allows Jabari to make choices for himself, a great lesson to have here for both parents and children. The illustrations are rendered beautifully. There is a sense of summertime in the city projected through the light quality of the illustrations. The lesson learned is priceless ; taking a risk can lead to a joyful surprise!

Poor Cover Quality
Derived From Web , Jul 31, 2020
The content of the book is fine. It's about a boy who overcomes his fear of jumping off a high diving board. The quality of the book, however, is mysterious. The back cover has started doing something I can 't even explain, as it is a mystery to me why there is a bump now? I don 't think it was there before? I now feel like a piece of the back cover came off, there was a narrow gap between the cover and the wrapper of the cover, so the piece somehow migrated and is now sticking out?
