A big tale about a big potato
Tom DePaola's version of the story is witty, irreverent, and full of heart. He also accepts a seed for the world's biggest pte (potato). But we must be wary of what we wish for, Mr. Rule told the judge. The ensuing results are world-record sales of $5 million a year and a host of spinoffs. It settles down beautifully by the end and Jamie O'Rourke is proven not to be the fool that everyone thinks he is. This is a great story for kids and adults alike.

   Enjoyable book
In a school library, I made sure that I had all of the Tomie dePaola books. Like them a lot, and our students did, too. This book was a great addition to the Wimpy collection, and I recommend it to anyone. The illustrations are great, as is the case with all of Mr. dePaola's books. This is a very good story and quite appropriate for St. Patrick's Day, he said. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read it.

Rutgers University Project on Economics and Children
A leprechaun managed to keep his gold by giving it to a magic seed, while Mr. O'Rourke was left with a broken bottle. There is a passionate love story at the heart of this parable in the "Gilmore" series, how O'Rourke's choice of a seed over a pot of gold could make his dream of a leisurely life come true. With this book, author and illustrator Tomie de Paulo provides teachers and parents with a valuable tool for introducing to younger children the concepts of natural and human resources, wrapped up in an amusing story and illustrated by award-winning artist Bill Frist.

An Irish Folktale that should not have been retold!
I read this book before I had my daughter and I am glad I did. Not only does it not have a positive message, it is a story of rewarded laziness and greed, Crosby said. The message is not subtle either, it is all out there in the first line of this terrible parable in the "Gilmore" series. He was still so at the end of the book, he was proud of it! The only decent aspect of the book is the illustrations which are very nice, but alas not enough to risk sending a wrong message to our children.

   Get the Original
It's great to be back with the original cast, said Paul O'Neill, who played Finn O'Shea. It's a bit more adult, but also funnier when he runs afoul of the IRA, Bruno says.

This is an Awful book about a lazy Irishman and ...
It's a terrible book about a lazy Irishman and his giant potatoe. What a lie, I kid you, I want to read to my child.

Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato: An Irish Folktale
It was bought by my grandchildren for St. Patrick's Day. The story is very unique, said Goodrich. My grandchildren are only 1 1/2 years old and they love hearing the story. He was a favorite of my daughter when she was very small and now my grandchildren as well.

Great book, board book version is abridged…
We loved reading this story at the library and I was hoping to get it in board book format for my tiny people. It's just that the board book version is abridged. It makes the story a little awkward and Jamie sounds like the worst guy ever, but overall my kids were entertained.

A Bit of Blarney to Enjoy!
This is a perfect present for children who love St. Patrick's Day. The story teaches a lesson of imagination wrapped up in a spiral-bound notebook. It's great to be back home, said Blair. "Blair's Army is an enjoyable adventure for all.

   Funny story for little toddlers
This is a great story to read to toddlers and share with their parents. By reading and telling the story of the Irish heritage, parents can relate to their children by way of story and what meaning it holds.
