Not to be taken lightly, this is a serious read
For many years, I enjoyed Michael Mauboussin's books, this guy is wickedly smart. This book is for two select readers only. One that wants to know how markets and stocks really work and the deep analysis of the fundamentals of a company. I really enjoyed the book's explanation of how markets and stocks work. It is well written and down to Earth. The second focus of the book is on this concept of correctly predicting how the expectations of the stock shake in the market. I don 't know about you, but predicting how the expectations are basically a prediction about predictions, not a good bet. In summary, it is a very good book in spite of this fallacy, and I recommend it.

   You'll need this
He does a lot in this book, but I can 't say I blame him. As an author, it is his job to make sure that you learn something from reading this book, but the repetition is a little tiresome, especially in the later chapters. The knowledge that is dropped makes up for it.

Unique among investment books, a vital addition to your investor toolbox
The authors provide a chapter by chapter walk through the process of this analysis with illustrative examples. It can be applied to any stock, but is particularly helpful in these days of great disruption. By assessing what expectations are implied in a stock, you can identify mismatches that can lead to outperformance and likewise avoid mistakes. Unfortunately, much of the business media is still focused on metrics such as EPS and PE ratios, which do not capture the full story. Expectations Investing will help understand the flaws in these metrics. The book is worthwhile, but I particularly enjoyed chapter 8, which introduces Real Options Analysis with the Study of Shopify and chapter 11 Share Buybacks, which is definitive in explaining this capital allocation tool for good and bad.

Excellent!! A well-written book with broad implications
The authors do an excellent job of illustrating several concepts and outlining them with relevant and modern cases. I am already applying some of my new insights to my investment decisions! I was also delighted to see how some of the book's lessons apply outside the financial arena : the notion of focusing on the value trigger has been applicable to my work in a very busy hospital, where prioritizing my time is important on a day-to-day basis.

   Cannot recommend highly enough
Mauboussin etc continue to be a required reading for any serious investor. A useful, clear and rigorous framework for assessing expectations, and even more helpful with revisions from the previous issue.

Read's Like Notes From a Notebook
This is an interesting and most likely valid concept. A major editing job is required, however. The text reads like the author's notes while researching the theme. Too bad, the publisher did not take the time to clean the copy for a smoother read.

Stop Watching CNBC & Absord Expectations Investing To Understand The Stock Market's Fundaments$!
Beautiful and beautifully written for both the newbie investor or scholarly text or as a must-read for C-suite executives and their Board of Directors. Compelling counterpoint for most of the nonsense that considers investing as a short-term exercise and ignores the many signal implicit in the stock price of today ''. Cannot be read by :
