Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

Jim and Pete turned to see the Auca men, their deadly spears raised, running toward Nate, Ed, and Roger. Jim stood in the river, his hand on his pistol. Should he defend himself? He already knew the answer. Each man had promised the others that he would not save himself by killing those they had sought out in Jesus' name.

Jim Elliot and his coworkers surrendered their lives in Ecuador's jungle, trusting that their sacrifice would not be in vain. Decades later, this dramatic event has challenged countless Christians to live with one great purpose: to bring the gospel to those who have never heard. (1927-1956).

Behind the Legend...A Man of God
This book tells that story in a simple but vivid fashion.
These are a gift for my granddaughter. She requested ...
She contacted them for Christmas. She has read and loves others during her home schooling.
Excellent book to help children learn more about Jim Elliot
The story was written well and held the attention of my children of 5, 7, and 9 years old.
If you are a reformed thinker...
This series is not for you. centered all very man. Jim and crew made things happen basically because of their desires... I had to stop reading to my children for fear that they would get the wrong impression of who is behind those desires and achievements. Looking to find a more missionary series of God-centered stories...
   A life spent for Christ
Reminds me of the Bible verse : I will spend gladly and be spent for you.
My 11-year-old son's review gives you a whole new look at missionary work among the tribes in the South American countries. I should know that I live in Brazil, in South America.
   Good read!
What an inspiring story and testament to the dedication even to death can have directed by God once.
