   Joy of Cooking
I believe that there is nothing you can't find in this book, so I gave this as a gift. Not so experienced cooks. I can find recipes, but also how to cook them. My bible has always been it.

   Update of a Classic Cookbook
I've used the old turquoise version in my cooking. When I ordered this, I was expecting the old version, but it has been updated for modern cooking techniques. It's still a good place to find information.

   Great Old Standard
I gave a new, updated version of The Joy of Cooking to someone this year because it was the first wedding gift I ever got. I was happy to see that it still has the basics in it explanations. This is a good basic cook book that should be in every kitchen. It's my first go-to book when I'm looking for information. There are illustrations of how to do things, but no pictures of cooked items like in a cookbook. This is a good go book because it has more information and content than a picture book. A copy of this should be given to every new cook, young cook, and old-hand.

   Best General Cookbook Ever!
If you love cooking and need a good general Cook Everything cookbook, this is it. I have a lot of specialty books, but this is the only one that covers cooking from quick breads to fish filleting. I like to cook and try new things all the time, and this book is useful because I want to learn the basics of handling different types of foods and cooking methods, but I tried to get along without it for a while. It's updated to cover foods from around the world so you can get a basic lesson on cooking and know what to look for in the store if you're unfamiliar with the ingredients. It's close enough that you don't need a multiple volume set of cookbooks.

   Great Cookbook. The standard
Over the years, I have bought at least 6 copies of the Joy of Cooking. My oldest son is going to law school and I gave him this one. There are easy to follow and delicious recipes in this cookbook. It's recommended for all.

1997 Joy of Cooking is the best version
A seller under promises and over delivers. The cookbook was in excellent condition when it was delivered. The best version of this classic is the 1997 Joy of Cooking. Different versions have different attributes that they recommend. The 1975 version had an in-depth treatment of calories, and was produced by a good publisher. The 1997 version featured how eating according to the food pyramid aids nutrition. There is a 1975 version of the wild game in North America. In 1997 the wild game was minimized in favor of more recipes from around the world. If I had to choose only the 1997 version, it would be the one I have. Love that version and the seller.

Best Cookbook of All Time (best version of Joy too)
My favorite cookbook is this one. The 1997 version of Joy is the best out there, even though I have other versions. The wide variety of recipes and great descriptions of many types of cooking make it stand out. The how and why of technique is explained. The descriptions of ingredients help you make the right choices. It has everything from menu suggestions to dry rubs.
