Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

The mercurial Judy Moody will delight any kid who's known a bad mood or a bad day--and managed to laugh anyway.

Judy Moody was in a mood. Not a good mood. A bad mood. A mad-faced mood.

To start, Judy Moody doesn't have high hopes for third grade. Her new desk won't have an armadillo sticker with her name on it. Her new classroom will not have a porcupine named Roger. And with her luck, she'll get stuck sitting in the first row, where Mr. Todd will notice every time she tries to pass a note to her best friend, Rocky. An aspiring doctor, Judy does have a little brother who comes in handy for practicing medicine, a cool new pet, and a huge Band-Aid collection.

Judy also has an abundance of individuality and attitude, and when Mr. Todd assigns a very special class project, she really gets a chance to express herself Megan McDonald's spirited text and Peter Reynolds's wry illustrations combine in a feisty, funny first chapter book for every kid who has ever felt a little out of sorts.

   I liked it but I didn't
I gave this three stars because it was not my favorite plot, it was not my favorite plot, and it was not my favorite plot. I did not get the plot 3. I have ignored this book for the longest time and finally finished it, because the story dragged on and on and on. I was very bored.

Great book to get your 2nd graders reading!
There is a chapter book series that is easy to relate to on a kid's level. Judy is a third grade boy with a brother named Stink, a mother and dad, and her friends make for a great story.

A wonderful way to lead kids to understand a change of attitude towards adversity.
It was very enjoyable. It addresses an important issue for both adults and kids. When facing adversity, there is a change of attitude. Getting to know your friends better before judging them. My 7 year old said yes because grandma Judy was smart enough to know that we can win even if we have to fix something. It's better to see opportunity and not disasters.

A good book kids will enjoy
Judy Moody was happy. She is a typical young girl at first. She finds reasons to not like things. She resists going to Frank's party. When she learns more about him, she finds she enjoyed the party and didn't want to leave. I think it's good when the main character grows and learns along the way. The glossary at the back of the book is helpful and the drawings help connect with the characters. Children's author, Deanie Humphrys- Dunne, reviews her work.

My 3 rd graders loved this book. It was perfect for the beginning of the school year, because we did a book study on it.
