Kafka wants to clean up kaiju, but not literally Will a sudden metamorphosis stand in the way of his dream?

With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force and wants another shot at achieving his childhood dream of eliminating the kaiju. But how can he expect to fight kaiju when he suddenly becomes one himself?

Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force. But while she's out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. Now, thanks to a sudden eligibility rule change, Kafka has one more shot at realizing his dream. There's just one problem--he's suddenly turned into a kaiju And even worse, he's made the Defense Force's neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.

Write Review
I have had a lot of bad experiences when buying new comic books. I bought this book to see what it would be like. I love it. The character design is amazing. The metallic sheen on the cover art is amazing. I can't get enough. I don't write reviews very often, but this was just too good. I am very excited to see where this story will go. The next book is something I want to read.
   Honestly it surprised me
I didn't think I would like this much but this is awesome. It has that typical shonen vibe but the MC is an adult and not angry about everything, he tries to understand his situation and puts it into good use. The amount of chapters we are getting every month is very low compared to other shonen, and there is no time for characters to breathe and get some character development. If you're into Fire Force, Bleach, and Blue Exorcist, I only recommend this.
A new staple of Shonen Jump
I keep up with most of the new releases of Shonen Jump and have read many different kinds of Manga. A lot of newer series don't last long after 20 or so chapters. I have kept up with every single chapter of 8 since it started over a year ago. The trope of a powerless character suddenly gaining strength gets overplayed, but Naoya Matsumoto wrote it in a more exciting way and kept me coming back for more. If you are new to this series and this volume is your starting point, I highly recommend you keep coming back for future volumes because every chapter keeps getting more exciting and thrilling than the last.
   I LOVE IT!!
Alright. It should not be this good. I can't believe that I have to wait a few months for the second volume. I 100% recommend it if you're thinking about buying it. It gives me Venom vibes because of how Kafka got the Kaiju. It's only the first volume and we don't know why this happened. We'll find out later. It also reminds me of Attack on Titans. You will find that later. I would love for you to give this book a try.
   This is so good
I enjoyed this so much I can't believe it. I can't wait for the next volume to come out. It hit every beat perfectly. It was funny at times, intense at others, and always happening. I can't wait to read more of it. This is something I cannot recommend enough. It was great!
   Fantastic manga
I really recommend checking out this Manga. It has adults in it. It's nice to have a Shonen for older people.
Amazing manga with a twist on shonen genre
I mostly bought Kaiju based on the cover, but it really hooked me on the story. The story picks up at the end of the volume, even though it isn't the most complex. I had to go online to binge the rest since they are translated better, but I'll still have to buy the volumes since they are physical.
The new series is finally on shelves. Kaiju 8 is one of the best stories I have ever heard. Be sure to check it out! ?
