Book Overview

A New York Times bestselling series
A USA TODAY bestselling series
A California Young Reader Medal-winning series

In this riveting series opener, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world before the wrong person finds the answer first. This special edition contains beautiful black-and-white illustrations and commentary from Shannon Messenger

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She's skipped multiple grades and doesn't really connect with the older kids at school, but she's not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie's a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret--at least, that's what she thinks.

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she's not alone. He's a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well.she isn't. Fitz opens Sophie's eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they're buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death--and time is running out.

I will be talking about the book, not this version!
I am 13, I was 12 when I first found this series and was attracted by the cover. This is on my shelf, up there with Wings of Fire and Percy Jackson and the Olympians! The story is well developed and the characters are well thought out. The books have gorgeous covers and thrilling stories hidden under them! Make sure you get the hardcover version of all of them, because I'm told that they have stories from different points of view! The series recommends 1,000%!

   Scratched up
I bought a new copy of the book and not only was my package delayed, the cover came with a number of scratches, creases and dents.

   Amazing!
So I got this book in paperback form to read for my two boys at bedtime. Not only do they love it and can 't wait to read it again, I loved it so much that I HAD to order one for my kindle so that I could read ahead! We can 't wait to read the whole series! The author put really a lot into her characters to make them relatable and to the story!

   one of my favorites
This is one of the best books I ever read, I fell in love with Keefe and he's snarky humor from the first page that introduced him and you'll definitely fall for Sophie, she's a strong female roll model, I have only two book left just I want the series to continue on forever.

   Disappointing
This was my favorite book, so I would have given it a full 5 stars, but this was extremely disappointing, since there were only 16 black and white pictures and only a few annotations. I am really Shannon Messenger, but the money is not worth it. The story is really great, so I recommend buying this version of the book if you haven 't yet read it.

   A sleepless night every November....
This series is from 2006 : I think that I started reading it in the 3rd grade, back when we were still on Everblaze. I've grown up with this series ''. Every November since I have a night where I read until midnight and can not put my book down the next day. Then I have a moment where I curse Shannon Messenger for her proclivity for really annoying cliffhangers. EVERY SINGLE TIME : This series is amazing because its similar to other series and is so unique at the same time. I think that it deserves more recognition because it so seamlessly mixes our world with one of... talents. The joke is within a chapter. This page is for reading only. Learn more about Sophie, Fitz, Biana, Keefe, Dex, Edaline, Sandor, Amy, Marella and learn to love them. YEAR 2000 NEXT COUPLE!

   Love it!
I LOVE LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE this series and reading it one more time has been awesome!!! The illustrations are cool! And the annotations reveal a little of Shannon's writing process and also give advice on how to write fantasy.
