   Tug vs Bob
I am somewhat torn about these books - I love the cheerful illustrations, characters and scenarios, but early readers may find them frustrating. They have a long learning gradient - the steep vowel sound is introduced on the second page! There are many words that will give the hesitant reader a hard time phonetically. I think that bombarding a child with the idiosyncrasies of the English language will only create more young readers. Bob's books do a much better job of easing a child into reading and I would recommend Beginning readers'' and Advancing beginners'' to start and suggest picking this later.

   Perfect for my struggling reader
My daughter is in the first grade and struggling with reading. Because it is hard, she does not want to read and because she does not read, it is hard. Her teacher recommended these books and because they get harder gradually, they are amazing! The first night she read 9 out of 12 of the first box set, and we had to stop her. It really built her confidence. She is now in the second box and needs to work harder, but is not discouraged. I had received a quote for $2000 for 5 months of tuition, which made me spit out my coffee! But with her teacher, we are confident that these books will take her to where she needs to be in no time.

   Good practice
I wanted to review some first readers that gave good practice, quickly went up in levels, forced more sound reading because similar words were on the page and had engaging images. They were perfect for our needs, but I felt that the stories were not very interesting, but children seemed to like them.

   Not what I expected.
I was looking for a few books for my grandson, who is just beginning to read on his own. They are super thin and have only a few words. They are really small, too. They may work well for children by reading their first words, but were too simplified for what I wanted.

   Good set for beginning readers
I bought these for my grandchildren, who are in kindergarten and learning to read just to learn. I liked that the set was progressing in difficulty. Both of my others have said that the children we are proud of themselves and read the first book easily and were confident enough to move on to the others.

   Great for readers
I bought this as a gift and is really great. The books are perfect for a child who is learning to read to learn. The questions in the back are really helpful for parents to ask questions when reading with their child.

Perfect for Very First reading independently
This is exactly what I was looking for books that were exclusively right words and consonant-vowel consonant words that could be spoken very first as beginning readers without being read. It is so much more satisfying for my little reader when she can complete the whole book herself.

   Great for early reader
It has short sentences with frequent repetitions of the sight words. Just enough, but not overly distracting. In comparison, my dtr did not like the Bob book series because, as she puts it, “somebody forgot to color in these books! ”

   Perfect for beginners
She loves them. They helped build her confidence so that she now wants to try harder books. I was able to let her sound most of the words on her own. She also started to remember some words by sight because of the repetition. When my younger child is able to read, I would buy them again.

Perfect for early readers - phonics and comprehension!
I purchased these for my son as an supplementary at home. He was not a struggling reader, but an early reader who had some trouble with applying his phonics skills to nonsense words. When they arrived, he laughed and screamed, claiming that he would never read them. But once I opened them and found and opened the rewards stickers, he was totally game. However, in a lower book they are appropriate and typical. I am a teacher and I would use these with my special education students. The perfect way to promote reading and comprehension is perfect. I would highly recommend these products, my son now loves them and we will receive the next set!
