If you’re learning Chinese, then buy it!
Derived From Web , Jul 13, 2021
Television images could not be loaded. The book is readily available in Chinese language. I like the example of evolution of each hieroglyphic and the practice of writhing by grasping the base of the skull. Added some exercises to practice and memorize what you learned. Great for any level of learner.

Exactly what I was looking for
Derived From Web , May 5, 2020
However, I am not proficient enough to read, recognize, and pronounce Chinese characters, and I have no interest in writing. Writing helps me to remember and recognize characters better, and have more of a relationship with the language, he said. This workbook is perfect for beginning, I am slowly going through each exercise and really enjoy the design and all the little facts placed to help you learn about the language and why the characters are they way they are. This book is by far the best seller of all time.

Great, but some major drawbacks
Derived From Web , Jan 19, 2020
Good for general vocab, and good for writing practice, too. I think I've gotten a bit more value out of it since I've been doing duolingo alongside it and making flashcards, so it's more for practice, not necessarily learning new content, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

Undefined Characters
Derived From Web , Nov 3, 2019
The method proposed in this book allows us to absorb Chinese characters, and retain them in memory. Exercises one learns by repetition, just like a child in grammar school. On the positive side, some characters are introduced later or left undefined. The second character, "Shiggy," is introduced on page 67. No character or format is defined in the book. Footnotes would be useful if characters were to be anticipated.

Fantastic Workbook
Derived From Web , Sep 19, 2019
If you're looking to start learning Chinese, this book is for you. What I love about this exercise is the way the characters are laid out, explanations are given, and how the exercises are done. The book is divided into four parts: Beginnings, middles and end of the book. The customer service was exceptional, and I highly recommend it to anyone. This book has been well worth the price I paid for it.

Great book to learn Mandarin from!
Derived From Web , Apr 24, 2019
But I took a mandarin class when I was young and struggled. Then I felt so happy, so I could put this book down, because it helped me a lot. It was mostly an exercise in patience, since I had no teacher to speak of. Anyone who is interested in learning Mandarin, there are two types of Chinese: Cantonese and Mandarin.

Chinese teacher says it's a good book
Derived From Web , Dec 6, 2018
When my daughter took Chinese in school, she was determined to try to learn more at home. In fact, one of her teachers said, "it's an excellent book." It helps you learn the characters, words and meanings of the Mayans. It's not meant for kids, but it sounds like an accessible book for all ages.

It's OK; good for reading and writing, bad for grammar and listening/pronunciation.
Derived From Web , Dec 1, 2017
This book will help you learn how to read, write and even spell some of the world's most common words. It does not teach you the grammar. It gives a workbook section with the words, but you are expected to know the grammar used from another source, which is kind of a minor problem. Also, I wish there was audio on a CD or online, but you will have to look up the pronunciation if you do not understand pinyin and its sounds.

I really liked how each character was broken down and explained - ...
Derived From Web , Mar 7, 2017
The "Ultimate Guide to Learning the ABCs of Character" by Robert Tench has helped hundreds of students master the alphabet. I really liked how each character was broken down and explained, making it easy to follow, added Claudia. Very good workbook, said Dr. Colin H. Robinson, one of the book's co-authors. Thanks to the book, I can now properly remember the characters. Not to mention that I look so much prettier and is not lopsided anymore! Thanks to the tutors at UniLearn, we can always improve our character writing!
