Legend doesn't merely survive the hype, it deserves it.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Young Elites

What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

Full of nonstop action, suspense, and romance, this novel is sure to move readers as much as it thrills.

   Good book, though
Fast-paced storyline paced with a storyline that is fast-paced. After the first few chapters, the plot really picks up quickly. Story-wise, the book is enough to keep you reading, and the alternating views between the two main characters makes each chapter a cliff-hanger. The plot is predictable, however, and there are a few cases where major plot events seem just unbelievable. Overall, good book, though, overall. A great light read for dystopian and action fans of casual fans.

   Amazing, fast paced book
I am literally OBSESSED with this trilogy. It is so good and the thing I love about it is that it is not too slow and not too good. The love story is powerful and passionate and the characters have much depth in them and the settings are clearly vivid. There are literally lots of plot twists later in the story and it made me cry literally.

A good teen mystery/thriller to read
This was a gift for our granddaughter, who loves to read mystery thriller books. She gave this book five stars!

   Amazing Trilogy
I received this book together with the other two books in the trilogy. I was sucked immediately into the book. I was so impressed by Legend that I had to run the other two as well. The next two days I spent in my room reading them and I have NO regrets. It is an incredible dystopian series with beautiful description and just fantastic characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and I look forward to seeing what else Marie Lu happens to publish! ( cf.

If you like those, you will definitely like this series
Divergent is a kind of a combination of The Hunger Games and Artistic. If you like those, you will probably like this series.

   Give it a try.
One of the best dystopian novels I have read until now. Please don 't compare this trilogy with the Hunger Games, the Mase Race and the Divergent, because it is very different.

   Solid YA Dystopian Novel
A fast-pace, short read about two fifteen-year-olds from different sides of a future Los Angeles. The Republic of Rome is in the area under control and rules with an iron hand. June Jones is a soldier for the Republic and if you can believe a fifteen-year-old can be one of the most wanted criminals. In the belief that Day had killed her brother, June set out to find him, and he finds her. Yes, it is one of those types of stories that come from. It was a pleasant, easy read at times, and contained characters drawn with broad strokes. I’ll probably wait until I make a significant dent in my TBR pile before I read the sequel, but I do what I learn what day, June and the others do next.

   Not Legendary for Me 😞
Although I read this book in about 5 hours, it did not excite me like I thought it would. I turned the pages about 30% out of anticipation and 70% to complete the book. The characters did not have as much depth for a dystopian novel and there was really no WOW OMG WTH factor. Even when you figure out who Metias is killer, it still isn 't concrete for another 10-20 pages. Your protagonist doesn 't know either. I like Easter eggs and foreshadows and I felt like there were just things here, but overall the book fell flat for me and I'm kind of sad about it because I really wanted to like it. The movie will maybe inspire a new perspective?

   My kid is reading it.
I bought this for my son's summer reading for the 9th grade for the 9th grade. He hates to read books, he hates to write. Absolute despises “wasting time reading ” Absolute. Each night I sent him to his room with the book to read a number of pages. So I sent him to his room with the book every night. Then i quizzed him on content and told him to tell me about it. Every night he came back with a detailed description of characters and their actions. He even had some opinions about why they did what they did. He may hate to read, but this story stuck in his mind long enough to tell me all about it.
