In this companion volume to his celebrated series Covenant & Conversation, Rabbi Jonathan Sacks mines the weekly Torah portions for insights into the nature of power, authority, and leadership. Based on the understanding that no man is born a leader, the book explores the principles, and perils, of becoming one. Brilliant exposition by Rabbi.

Today, Rabbi Sacks, a leading intellectual and a powerful voice for Judaism, brings his original insights on leadership through the books of Moses. After reading this book, I have seen the leadership among the BooM heroes in a fresh perspective. Unless God and His Word are at the center of a leader's life, coupled with lots of reading, discussion, delegation and sensitivity to history and people and of course character, the leader will fall into the rocks of reality. Read this book to learn how all this plays out. Must have

A truly valuable series of Lessons in Leadership as revealed in Biblical studies.

I've focused pretty well on the Sacks presentation on Deuteronomy, since I am scheduled to present a class on this in the near future. I like his presentation '', because it offers a slightly different perspective than many other works. The attributes of a true leader are delineated according to Scripture, so that it follows my lesson plan for an adult Sunday school class. From a Christian perspective, I won not have the time available to delineate all the significant points I might have in weekly parashah readings, but Moses'lessons on leadership, as recognized by Sacks, will really offer much to those who are trying to get ahead in whatever field they are in, I highly recommend this book for all those who are striving to get ahead, whatever their field of endeavor.

Brilliant inspiring educational, just like Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, z & L, whom I miss dearly. Because of COVID-19, I don 't attend the temple, so I supplement my prayers by reading Lessons in Leadership to give insights into the Parsha.

Fantastic! Wonderful! I enjoy looking at leadership through the eyes of biblical stories and the contemporary stories through the lenses of biblical leadership challenges. I pick this book once every 1-2 weeks and take 10-15 minutes to read a chapter. One of the best uses of 15 minutes in my time-constrained schedule, absolutely.

For more than 30 years, I have been a leadership trainer, consultant, and coach and these books are one of the best I ever read. It is a Jewish perspective on the Torah and, as a lifelong Christian, aligns with my faith and my professional experience, bringing them together in a marvelous way that enriches both. I have recommended it to several who are already reading and enjoying it.
