It's evening in the forest and Little Owl wakes up from his day-long sleep to watch his friends enjoying the night. Hedgehog sniffs for mushrooms, Skunk nibbles at berries, Frog croaks, and Cricket sings. A full moon rises and Little Owl can't understand why anyone would want to miss it. Could the daytime be nearly as wonderful? Mama Owl begins to describe it to him, but as the sun comes up, Little Owl falls fast asleep.

Putting a twist on the bedtime book, Little Owl's Night is sure to comfort any child with a curiosity about the night.

I love how this story celebrates the wonders of night in ...
I hope more people hear about this book, Powell said. The prose is not rhymed, but the cadence is soothing. I love how this story celebrates the wonder of night in the forest. The stars are celebrated for their quiet beauty. Perhaps this story will go some way to eroding the traditional fear of the dark among many kids. It's perfect for bedtime stories, too. It's great to be back reading it to my daughter, probably she doesn't understand but likes looking at the illustrations, and the story is relaxing rather than stimulating compared to other happy fun kids books which seem more suited to the day! Highly recommend.

Follow little owl along for a fun night out and about exploring
It took a little while to grow on us, but we made it through. We read a lot of either silly Sandra Boynton books or serious, meaningful books, like The night you were born, like Harper's. This one doesn't have a rhyming poem style to it, or a really deep message, Sosa said. It's just all around cute and fun, Tunick said. It was mostly a couple of pages that really got me into the book. The book follows the adventures of a young boy who goes on a quest to find his owl's "night out." The story is just the right length for my 2 1/2 year old and I. Each night I let him choose between two or three books to read before bed. He picked this one about half the time because it was cheaper. It's just that I don't dread it like others. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

   Beautifully done
We just got this book today and he's just blown away by it. It's different from all the books we've read together. Dark colors are appealing to him, I think. The story is charming and the illustrations are exceptional, Morgenthau said. This would make a great present for your little one's library.

One of my all time favorite books. Have probably read it more than 200 times and have now bought it for several friends with babies.

Mr. Skillern's artwork is pretty impressive. Reviewers have generally agreed that it would be nicer with different fonts and styles of writing. Not so much fun to read, Mr. Caramore said.
