Book Overview

From beloved storyteller Anna Dewdney comes the perfect way to give thanks: a Llama Llama Thanksgiving board book

In Llama Llama Gives Thanks, it's Thanksgiving time for Llama Llama and his family That means yummy foods and autumn leaves and being thankful for everything from pumpkin pies to blue skies. Thanksgiving may only come once year, but in Llama's family, giving thanks is always here

With short and simple rhyming text, the Llama Llama board books introduce Llama Llama to babies and toddlers before they're ready for longer full-length stories. And their small size and durable pages are perfect for little hands.

Llama Llama Gives Thanks was one of Anna's final projects before she passed on in 2016. Her love of language, playful sensibility, and ability to entertain and comfort young children are evident in all of her books.

ADORABLE and FINALLY a Thanksgiving book!
My son likes this series. I was so impressed by the book about giving thanks. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but it gets a little buried by Halloween and Christmas. The author got this book out there.

Simple and Sweet Thanksgiving Book with Llama Llama
The board book has a llama llama giving thanks. The vibrant illustrations you' ve come to love in the larger books are carried in this joyful celebration of gratitude. See how and with whom llama llama celebrates and what he is thankful for. Everything looks delicious after the table is set. There is a llama and his companion sneaking food before dinner. Thanksgiving is more than just one day. Give thanks all year long. The book is perfect for introducing little ones to showing gratitude.

   Love it
There is a cute story line. The show shows how llamas spend Thanksgiving with their families.

   Disappointing
This wasn't the usual llama, llama rhymes. It just didn't make sense. Our children love the Llama, Llama series. Don't waste your money on this one, pick another, if you want to add to your series. This is said from a family that loves to read and children who can't get enough of the llama books.

This is not one of the original Llama Llama books
The cover of the Anna Dewdney book is more like a fake than a real one, since it says an Anna Dewdney book vs actual Anna Dewdney. I think this is a continuation taken up by another author given her death date and the publication date of this book. The illustrations are not as good as the real Llama Llama books, and the writing is just bad. The joyfulness of the original books is not present. The excitement of childhood is gone. The rhyming scheme doesn't work at all. This book is hard to read. The earlier books are recommended by me. The Llama Llama Red Pajama is a genius. Instead of getting that one, you should get that one.

   Underwhelming
The book was nice for the price but the story line was not great. My 11 month old is not following the story line so much as just looking at the pictures, but not so good for an older child who enjoys more of a story.

It is good for toddlers as it is a board book and ...
There is a book for younger kids. It is good for toddlers as it is a board book and has short, rhyming phrases on each page, but I wouldn't recommend it for a preschooler or above. I bought the llama llama series thinking it would have more pages, but was disappointed when I received it. My child was excited to receive it, but I don't think it's a good idea for 3 and over, but I think it's good for children under 3.

   Cute Holiday Fun
So cute. These cute holiday quick reads are fun to read in a 10 minute period. Let's not get caught up in how long it takes to read it, I have a toddler and we stretch it out. I like that you can see the canvas texture of the illustrations, there are fun images and pretty colors. My daughter is 16 months old and I am sure she will grow out of this, but I think these short poem stories are perfect for her because she doesn't pay much attention and she likes books.

Another great Llama Llama board book.
The Llama Llama board books collection has a new addition. One of the things I love about the Llama Llama board books is that they are easy to read aloud. My twin 20 month olds don't get board and sit through the whole story because it is a short story. We can read it multiple times in one sitting. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the other books.
