   What Is a Perfect Family?
I chose the above title because it is a recurring theme in this novel... Warren and leading a group for survivors... What is it that meets Roxanna Baez... and Sarah, whose entire family is brutally murdered. Together with her sister Lola, Roxy is taken from their alcoholic, neglectful mother and sent to a horrible over crowded foster home where they are abused by elder foster children. Eventually the children are reunited with their mother and life gets better for a while.
Her stories can be descriptive and gory.
Each one of her books has been so enjoyable for me. Always look forward to a new one.
   Great read but poor finish
For over 15 years, Gardner has been my summer reading must have ''. I make sure that I borrow my copy back if I get her books out. They absolutely love it! I was extremely disappointed how this particular book was wrapped up. I was so deceived about who and how she chose the guilty suspect that I wanted to contact the author and discuss my concerns. In fact, my concerns about this book will definately affect my summer reading choices in the future. I usually feel so confident in how Gardner researches her themes before committing a novel to pen. But in this book, Gardner was led by stereotipical views of individuals astray. So let yourself be very much down...
   Intriguing suspense
Lisa Gardener, true to form, does not disappoint in this book filled with psychological mystery. Another in her series of D. D. Warren and Flora Dane novels, the story surrounds the mass murder of a family of five, but a member survived and is missing. Not only did I look at the murder investigation, but also the foster care system, alcohol abuse and recovery, and family dynamics, Gardener did a good job of building an excellent storyline that kept me turning the pages until the surprising end. A master of character-building, Gardener created realistic people who were able to bring the plot to life in a believable way. Typical of her books, Lisa kept me guessing until the end, who was the perpetrator and with all the twists and turns, I was not disappointed in this book.
   DD's has another great case!
As usual, Fascinating characters and story line. Interesting look at the foster care system and children that become involved in this mess. I really enjoyed this book ''.
Interesting. . . But far from great.
I enjoyed reading this book, but it was very frustrating. Like the author did it again, trying to impress the reader with her story. It was like she was trying to make sure that no one would anticipate her ending. As it ended, the ending was just -- without much satisfaction. I will probably read this author again because I like a good detective story, but I hope she does a better job.
   Another Winner for Lisa Gardner
What can I say beyond that I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I am not going to cover another rehash of the storyline, as others before me have seemed to be quite well.
Excellent blend of characters from different themes.
Has challenged Meeting work demands and the pleasure of parenting. A five year old need for a dog adds more work and increased joy. The Husband family manages better and needs to be more active. A young woman who had been abandoned and then tortured for 472 days. A technique is to help other women surviving traumas. She found one where there is a dysfunction family with alcohol over-using patents. Children were placed in foster care, where 2 girls were terribly abused by other children. If a family is united, 4 of the 5 family members are killed. Begin a search for answers. This is.D.D. Good police work, followed by good answers. On the, Flora pursues answers through interactions between members of computer-based support for survivors. The one remaining family members pursue answers on her own, but does comply with police efforts. Google Answers leads you back for five years. Very pleasant reading, which requires the reader to keep track of all characters.
Would wait for the price to go down on this one
It was a good book, but would have been better if the killer had not been a victim of the bullies and the Fraserparents and had gone to jail. Good things happened to DD and Flo.2. Just disappointed with the way it ended. Victims get really nothing and bullies and Frosterparents go free and the parent gets more kids.
Understanding the inner workings of a person is hard enough, but D.D. Warren makes it a little easier! Lisa Gardner, thank you! And of course, to your minions!
