Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

One of the founding mothers of mystery, Dorothy L. Sayers first introduced the popular character Lord Peter Wimsey in 1923 with the publication of Whose Body? Over the next twenty years, more novels and short stories about the aristocratic amateur sleuth appeared, each one as cunningly written as the next. Now in a single volume, here are all of the Lord Peter Wimsey stories: a treasure for any mystery lover. From The Fantastic Horror of the Cat in the Bag to The Image in the Mirror and Talboys, this collection is Lord Peter at his best--and a true testament to the art of detective fiction.

   Great Escapist reading!
I enjoy reading mysteries and short stories. Sayers is a writer and Lord Peter is a certified character. If you like the short story format because you don't have the time to read a long book, then set your alarm clock. You can't resist starting the next Lord Peter story when you come to the end of the last one.

   Not Agatha
It was disappointing. Don't read it and just leave it. These were not good mysteries. Not an Agatha Christie level.

   Good Old-fashioned Whodunit
If you like a story told in a more formal way, you will love these. Today's gore and good riddance murder mysteries are a different style of writing. This will be a nice diversion if you enjoy reading different styles of writing.

   Short stories only
T he short stories about Lord Peter Wimsey are included in the book. Are you searching for Whose Body? The book is not for you.I wanted the short stories, and I am very happy with my purchase, but based on the reviews, there is some confusion about what complete stories mean.

   Good British Historical Mysteries
I have gotten the DVD's, audio books and books from Peter. There are good plot lines. The best of us will need a dictionary to understand the stories.

Some More Moments with Lord Peter
I have written a lot about Ms. Sayers, but I don't have much to say. The book brings together all of Lord Peter's appearances. They don't have the impact of the novels. The crimes of missing wills, stolen jewels, and stolen peaches are not important. It is easy to be tolerant of Wimsey because he is a fun character to be around. It is enjoyable to see him with his friends, family and his children. It is definitely worth taking a chance on for Wimsey fans.

   Not all of Lord Wimsey
T he description of the contents of the book is the main complaint. The Lord Peter character is not part of Sayers' work, but it is still worth reading. We need to order another book because we need a specific title for our class.

If you haven’t met Lord Peter this is a wonderful way to make his acquaintance.
If you can't get enough of A. Conan Doyle, then you should read a book by the author of " Dorphine Sayers."A collection of British detective fiction. Lord Peter has a fancy way of solving crimes. It's a great compliment to any collection.I have three copies of this.I give it away to people I know will read it a lot. Lord Peter Death Bredon Wimsey will be with you if you are traveling.

   NOT complete
I'm not sure how a collection can be titled complete when it is only a collection of short stories. The initial story in which Sayers introduces Lord Peter, Whose Body, is mentioned on the back cover, but is not included in this volume.I bought the complete collection because of this story. This isn't a reflection on the book.I like Sayers and Wimsey very much.I have an issue with the publisher and the seller not being clear for those trying to find a complete collection.
