Book Overview

A summer in Italy turns into a road trip across Tuscany in this sweeping New York Times bestseller filled with romance, mystery, and adventure.

Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn't in the mood for Italy's famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She's only there because it was her mother's dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn't around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is get back home.

But then Lina is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina's uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires Lina, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother's footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It's a secret that will change everything Lina knew about her mother, her father--and even herself.

People come to Italy for love and gelato, someone tells her, but sometimes they discover much more.

Kirkus Reviews called Love & Gelato a sure bet for fans of romance fiction, while VOYA said readers will find it difficult to put this book down. Readers are about to discover a new place, a new romance, and a new talent.

   Light and Fun Read
Love and Gelato was such a great read. Really sweet storyline, good character development, and hard to put down. I like good fiction that doesn't have really disturbing crime or over-the-top romance, so this was PERFECT!

5 stars, now where can I get some gelato??
I stretched this book out as long as I could, I didn't want it to end. I love that she must have done her research on one of her Mama's tours, Bernadette Peters said. I got to experience Italy without ever being there.

   Great new Authoress.
Jenna is going to follow in her father's footsteps as a great novelist. In her own inimitable style, she takes you on a great mystery. One feels as if they are riding the back of a scooter through the streets and back alleys of Florence.

Flavor, Scenery and Two Love Stories!
Jenna Evans's first novel, Love and Gelato, was also a huge hit. I never re-read a book once I finish it, no matter how much I didn't want to come to the last page. There are some delightful descriptions of the Italian countryside, the two main characters' lives and the well-crafted story line that runs throughout the novel. It's great to have such a great product on the market, said Dr. Steve Peters, director of product management at AOL Europe.

   GReat book for all ages...
It's great to hear people say it's 'interesting and funny.' She is a beautiful writer, like her father, Raymond.

   An Amazingly Romantic Adventure
The book is an amazing read. It had adventure and mystery, with a coming-of-age feel to it. There were no explicit scenes from the film, but the romantic elements were not overdone and nothing was wrong. The use of detail in a picture painted in my mind.

   I fell in love, guys.
I fell in love with Italy, with Howard, with Hadley, and with Lina. Yes, I cried, and I loved! I don't really buy books without having read them first, but I saw this one and just had to have it. I started reading it right away, and I've loved every second of it. She wasn't an overly dramatic teenager like you often find in YA novels, her friends and co-worker said. The Web site also tells us that Ford was "100 percent behind the project." It was such a good one, figuring out her mother's mystery before the show ended, Bernadette Peters said. The music was just great, Christina said. 5 stars.

   Sweet but Slightly Frustrating
This was a good book, I enjoyed it, Morgenthau said. However, I must admit that a few things about it did annoy me. Mainly that Lina had her mother's journal and instead of just reading the whole thing and finding all the answers, she trekked around Italy doing her own investigating. She avoided conversations with people and she was all dramatic and filled with pang when she just read the whole journal instead of just skimming through the first few pages. At times, I felt like I was yelling at her through the book. In saying all this, the book had such a nice ending that I forgot all about my earlier anger, Thibault said.    How do you know who your family reLky is
I used it with a tutor of mine and both enjoyed the book. It's a sweet, sensitive story about growing up and finding the meaning of family, Raymond said.
