Great book, great message!

Don 't give up love! I bought this for my husband for our anniversary, but my 18-month-old son claimed it for his own. It is now one of his favorites. The story and the pictures are beautiful. So glad I ordered this book and now has it in our collection.

This book is absolutely love. Simple enough for two year old at bedtime and can be read quickly, but message works for older kids as well. Just think that this is so cute.

I agree with the other star reviews, however, I think that the book has sucked altogether. I don 't think that much thought was put into this story and they were just wanting to get another book out and get their money. After I finished reading it out loud, I literally said : Wrong, '' that was dumb.

The other Love Monster books are so much better

First I have to say that the other Love Monster books are our favorites so I was very surprised at how much I don 't like this book. I disagree with the message that this book sends so much that I won 't read it to my children. I won 't even give this book away. The monster is loved by all because of his looks and can only be rejected by someone who looks the same as him. Horrible : I can not recommend the other Love Monster books enough, but this is just sad.

Family Favorite

We bought this book from Barnes and Noble for the first time when it came years ago. It has been held by our whole family, grandparents, mom, baby brother and sister near and dear. This is a book we purchase for all family friends with little ones. It is a heart warming, adorable and funny story with so much personality that teaches children to love themselves, to focus on themselves and, while you are at it, may find love.

A sweet book, Totally Recommend it!

I wanted to use this book for an activity with my pre-schooI - kiddos at work. I read bad reviews about the contents of this book and I decided to return it anyway, if I was not happy with it, I could order it. I read it to my 10 year old son and asked him for his honest opinion about what he thought the book was about. His simple response was : It's about a monster looking for love and he finds it ''. Sometimes as parents we leave it to other forms to teach children, especially little children don t have that conspiracy thinking. Sadly, that is something adults teach when adults look so much in a children's book. As parents, we are in charge of teaching our children wrong from right and to love ourselves as they are, for who they are, no matter what a person might think. This is how life works. We can not control what others do or don 't do, only our own actions. So, after my rant... buy the book, it gives you the opportunity to teach unconditional LOVE!

I bought this for my first Valentine's sons and didn 't like the lesson it taught at all. I thought there would be a turnaround that all the cute people got to know the monster and became friends with him despite his differences... That is not how it went and it was more sad then rude.

I agree with the other reviews about Star : The illustrations also portray the monster as ugly, although the story says he is cute. Would have been more effective to show an unattractive monster and have a better plot line of inner beauty.

Very disappointed at the message that this sends to the kids. All other reviews that warn you are trustworthy. Kids should not feel self-conscious of their differences and should not be taught prejudices by teaching them to find their own kind.
