My eight-year-old loves this series of six books. The whole family has a great time as we are updated by my son with Mac's exploits. The storyline includes interesting background information so that my son learns as well as being entertained. For example, my son brought Stradivarius violins in conversation with his violin teacher the other day. This stemmed from a Mac story that he had just finished. My son is a good reader, however, any child of this age would also love to have this book read to them. It's highly recommended and fun to watch. He is eagerly awaiting the publication of Volume 7.

Plus the sprinkling of facts is done pretty cleverly so that you don't even realize that you learn them.
