My students really enjoyed reading Macbeth, and my students really enjoyed reading it, Macbeth. It made sense to them completely and Shakespeare was not so daunting for students with reading difficulties.

Great for struggling readers

We read the Shakespearean language, but my students have the catch net of modern language. It has been a fantastic tool for me in my college reading class.

I would never teach Shakespeare without this book
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
This book is one of the easier Shakespeare plays to understand, but this book is a big help to reluctant readers or anyone who has a fear of Shakespeare. I would not dream of teaching Macbeth without this book. I use it to help students catch up when they miss several days of the school. If I feel like my students don 't understand a scene, I ask them to reread the scene aloud using this book. It really improves understanding and they seem to enjoy the play more when it is in their terms.

Makes Shakespeare come to life, and makes his work understandable to modern readers
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
Purchased this as required reading for my high school literature classes for my sons'high school. They have used several in the series, and it makes understanding Shakespeare MUCH easier. They juxtapose the modern play on one side with the traditional translation on the other side. Most kids don 't realize what amazing stories he tells because the language seems just... well, weird. Finally, they can understand what the teacher is actually trying to talk to them about -- imagery, figurative language, symbolism and style -- in a way they can actually relate to. Very useful book to expand on why Shakespeare was one of the greatest storytellers of his era.

Good help

You could look the meaning online for free, but nothing beats the ease of just having the book there. And makes it easier for actors to play the character, so that you actually KNOW what they are saying.

Excellent side-by-side modern translation and annotations make Shakespeare a breeze
Derived From Web , Oct 19, 2021
Wow! Wow! We read Shakespeare as a family for years, especially Asimov's Guide to Shakespeare as a quick overview before taking plays, but this line-by-line translation is perfect for our high schooler in her Shakespeare Lit class. Highly recommended! Highly recommended! ''
