Curries good enough to please the zealots!
A friend from the UK hosted a curry dinner using the recipes from this book. I was impressed by the ease with which she was able to make the curry. I bought my own copy of the recipes that I was taken with. I haven't been upset. If you want to experience authentic curry without traveling to Asia, this book is for you. You need to buy fresh herbs and spices. Buying smaller amounts will allow you to use what you need. That way the spices stay fresh on you. The wonderful people in Indonesia and Malaysia say... Selamat Makan.

   Brilliant!
The best curry cookbook. The history and side stories are enjoyable. Even if curry isn't your thing, you should still read.

A beautiful book all foodies should own
I am slowly trying the recipes in this book. It is a pleasure to read the narrative and ingredient info. The book is made out of heavy paper that is flat without breaking. This would be a great gift for someone who loves to cook. The curry's are all delicious. The recipes are easy to follow.

   Not a great cookbook
This one is the most bland and whitewashed of all the Indian books I have received. Some of the recipes don't call for garlicginger and there aren't a lot of pictures. It spans from around the world but the recipes are disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it.

   My new bible
There's a history section and delightful recipes. The Thai paneng curry that I made from the book brought tears to my eyes. I can see myself using this book to cook. I will be entertained in the kitchen for years to come because every page has something I want to make.

A must have for every and anybody who loves Indian food and more
I wonder if the book I read was written for me. The history of curry is covered in this book, as well as the recipes from the past. Indians settled all over the world and had to adapt their cooking with what was available on the spot. The British or the Japanese may have taken or adapted recipes. Tamils who settled in Malaysia, Biharis who settled in South Africa, and others who settled in the Caribbean are just some of the people who have adapted their recipes. With this book, you will have a solid background of Indian immigration trough time and countries, with origin and history of each recipe as well as the recipes properly speaking. Thank you.
