some fun ways to learn phonics
This is the book that is used by schools in my county. We used old letters and a magnetic cookie sheet. She thought that the activities were really kind of fun. Using manipulatives is helpful for many young learners. The rest of it is kind of good if you are not an educator, but it does give you some dry ideas for reinforcing phonics. Experiment Activity : The child puts a certain set of letters on their board. Tell them to read s-u-n and ask them to put the word. They can replace the r with an o and then replace the u with an s and so on.

   Helpful book
They are sequential and start with simple CVC words and gradually increase to more complex. You can use them with multisyllabic groups or in your whole class. There is also a very interesting chapter on teaching children to decode small words.

   Practical Book
It gives the teacher and teacher a way to provide a structured and systematic instruction that is direct. One of the important ideas in this book is how important it is to provide students with practice at several rules a time.

   Making Sense of Phonics
Great read, plus quick and easy activities to use. I shared it with 3 reading teachers... all of whom went to buy it too! Little expensive for a multi-syllable book, but I love the activity called Sylla-Search for teaching little words.
