Book Overview

MAN UP Becoming a Godly Man in an Ungodly world was written by pastor, author and speaker Jody Burkeen. His god given vision to challenge men to stop being spiritual sissies, MAN UP and except Gods challenge to be the light of the world inspired him to put this vision in a book to share with others. Jody's self-described Damascus Road Transformation led him on a journey to search the scripture to find what he had been missing his whole life, Jesus Christ. In this journey, the Word if God took over in a way he never expected. Searching for men in the church to help in him in his walk, he found very little help and in the process found men that needed the same kind of help. Church had become a religion, not a relationship says Jody in his book. The relationship he is talking about is the relationship with Jesus Christ and it seemed as if men in the church had become complacent and not living up to the challenge to live a separated life.

A great Christian kick in the butt for any Christian man
A kick in the butt from a Christian. This helps show how to man up in today's culture in all aspects of life, whether it be church, at home, as a husband, or as a father. It is a must read for any Christian man. There are questions at the end of each chapter that can be used for personal study or a small group.

   Pretty solid book
A good book. At church, we read it in our small group. If you are going to read this book, it is best to do it in a group setting and only a chapter or two each week, because there is so much to think about when reading it. It will show you areas in your life where you are being aissy.

   Couldn't put it down!
Can't wait to use at our church I' ve been searching for something that will help me encourage and challenge men and I' ve found it. Jody is a Man's Man that is rare in today's culture and this book inspired me to leave it all on the field for God's Kingdom!

   Misleading
The description of this devotional was great and I bought it for my Fiancé. My fiancée is not a father, so this book was a waste. I thought it would help him, but it didn't help at all.

   Not sure
A good book, but the man speaks down on other men and he is the only one who allows his wife to make the living.

Man Up! Become a leader amongst men today.
I bought this book for my dad because he loves reading religious books. This is a book that is easy to understand and read. The purchase of the chapter on Marriage is worth it. The book gave my Dad and I valuable insight into the Christian lifestyle. It was worth a read!

   Questionable
I can only give it a 3 star rating, but I liked the book. God tells us a wise man listens. The author doesn't listen to us and we make mistakes. He did not allow anyone to comment or follow him on his posts because he posted things that were not biblical and someone tried to point him to the truth in scripture. Why is he afraid of that? I don't know if I would trust a book written by someone with a hard heart who won't listen to the truth when he is walking away from it. At times, we all need to be corrected.

A Book for all Christian Men
The book is for Christian men. There are problems men have in the church and successful ways of healing them. Challenges needed to continue the life Jesus has planned for us.

   Time to check yourself
I have been a Christian for 35 years and have not matured. I was hiding because I was too scared to live out my faith and be the man God wanted me to be. This book is for that guy. It was a challenge to get with the program. I want to live the life God has for me. I can relate to my daily walk and other men who work to keep me accountable since I'm still struggling. It is worth the cost and time to read. I dare you to read this book and see if you have been honest with yourself or if it's time to Man Up. It is!
