Book Overview

Meet Marvin, a lovable monster with a twelve-stringed baby fang guitar, a rambunctious case of ADHD, and a diary to record it all. His teachers scold him, his parents don't know what to do with him, and his sister is convinced he was raised by triple-tailed monkeys. In short, Marvin's life is feeling out of control--until a secret formula changes everything.

In the same humorous spirit of Diary of a Wimpy Kid comes Marvin's Monster Diary: ADHD Attacks (And I Rock It, Big Time). Using the monstercam and ST4 techniques developed by Dr. Raun Melmed of the Melmed Center in Arizona, Marvin's Monster Diary teaches kids how to be mindful, observe their surroundings, and take time to think about their actions. Marvin's hilarious doodles and diary entries chronicle his delightful adventures, misadventures, and eventual triumph in a funny, relatable way. It's the one book on ADHD that kids will actually want to read

Marvin's Monster Diary also includes a resource section to help parents and teachers implement Dr. Melmed's methods, plus ST4 reminders that kids can remove, color, and place around the house.

   Great find for my son!
I was looking for books since this started, and we have been at home, he said. A son with ADHD and a history of mental illness came across this series. He absolutely loved it, said Blair. I kept in touch with him for the first time in a long time. He sat down and read it three times in a week. I read it too so I could see if it was something he could identify with, he said. It's a positive and entertaining show, Levine said. Two other schools, Nottingham and Birmingham, also purchased used ambulances. Turner's lawyer, Reid Weingarten, said: "Great find.

   ST4
It's alright, Mr. Rule told the judge. The kid has barely looked at it. There wasn't much in there other than the viewfinder, which I would think would be disruptive to a classroom setting with constant raising of his hands to do this, he said.

   Good for younger kids
It's great to have a book out there that tells the story of two boys with ADHD. One man couldn't focus on the task at hand. It was a cute story and did have some great ideas for kids to use, Mrs. Cowger said. It's great to see the kids happy, even if they hate the music. It helped them to understand that they are not alone or unusual.

Fun way for kids to learn ADHD self-management strategies!
I have been looking for this product for a long time. Some of the books for kids are so dry, they almost fall apart. This book was cute and funny and has these really easy and to remember self-management strategies that are taught through the storyline, said Blair. Like the Wimpy Kid movies, this one was written by Jeff Kinney. My daughter absolutely loved it and immediately started using the strategies. I can't wait for the new books! These are fantastic products, Mr. Dhaliwal said.

My daughter with autism and ADHD has absolutely devoured the book. She has read it several times, and she has not missed a beat. The book helped her to know how to properly manage her ADHD.

Great technique in a fun presentation. Very helpful.
My kid was having a very rough day and acting without thinking which was quickly leading to a worse day for all of us, Mrs. Booher said. I got him to down and realize he was acting without thinking, and I told him I had the perfect story about a little calm monster that had the very same problem. I made some decorative signs reading "4's" for all the windows in the house. Sometimes he sees the signs, sometimes he doesn't. It helps defuse the situation before it can spiral out of control, saving money and time. Even if you're not an expert, I find these techniques useful.

My son is 12 and he read this pretty quick. He has mild ADHD and is constantly ...
It's great to have your kid read this, said Julie Reichert, mother of 12-year-old twins. He has ADHD, and is constantly getting in trouble for not sitting still. Mr. Hughes enjoyed the book and said many of the quotes were from real people. If you normalize it, I think it helps. However, I wish I had bought it when he was 8.

Very helpful, and grandson loves it!
My grandson absolutely loves this book, and it has given him some very useful tools to use for his ADHD. He has a very good book collection, especially children's books. Two years ago, I bought him a book by the same name, which I found on Amazon. com. He's a huge fan of all the Beatles, but he's especially fond of this one.

I bought this for my 9 year old who has ADHD, and I think it helped her deal with some of the self esteem issues she has. So far he has read it twice. It has helped him to understand his condition and not feel so alone, McCartney said. He also said he likes the camp's sense of humor. It's a cute book that keeps his attention and he can really relate to the character, Morgenthau said.
