Book Overview

Few books have had as great an impact on the cause of world evangelization in our generation as The Master Plan of Evangelism.--Billy Graham

It all started when Jesus called a few people to follow him and share God's message with their neighbors. We are called to do the same. But evangelism can be difficult--even intimidating. With all the evangelism resources available, where should you turn to find sound advice on how to share the Good News with others?

The answers aren't found in TV evangelism, easy-evangelism guidebooks, or the latest marketing techniques. Rather, Robert E. Coleman points to the Bible, to the ultimate example found in Jesus Christ.

For more than forty years, The Master Plan of Evangelism has challenged and instructed more than 3.5 million readers. This abridged version for time-starved readers is as fresh, relevant, and effective as ever. Join the movement and discover how you can minister to the people God brings into your life.

Robert E. Coleman is distinguished professor emeritus of evangelism and discipleship at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He also served as dean of the Billy Graham International Schools of Evangelism as well as director of the Billy Graham Center Institute of Evangelism at Wheaton College. He is the author of The Master Plan of Evangelism, which has sold more than 3 million copies.

   Good condensed version.
If you want to start Evangelizing or know if its for you or not and don't have a lot of time to read, then get this copy. I begin this everyday just before the work read. It is fast and right to the point. I started evangelising immediately after the completion of the book. This knowledge has opened new doors in my life and in others'lives. Very helpful. '' But not everybody has the gift of evangelisation, so don 't beat yourself if it is not your bag. But this cubic book will make you want to get out of your little world and get the good news out there.

   Training, Guidance, and Sending Forth
This helpful book is packed with small information about the approach that Jesus took in making disciples. The method becomes more clear first to train the disciples and teach them to be obedient and then to show them how to go forth with power to do his work. The training seems to be focused on demonstrations of preaching the good news of salvation through faith in Christ, releasing devils, healing the eyes of the blind and setting those who were oppressed at liberty. The training includes demonstrations, love and constant direction, which results in the everlasting kingdom. The emphasis on personal, close guidance is an absolute must. Jesus worked faithfully and patiently with his disciples until they were finally sent to tell the world about a redeeming love when the time was right.

A great overview of Jesus' Plan
This takes the Gospel accounts and pulls out the strategy that Jesus used to make disciples who would make disciples. These suited our present context more closely than did the context that the disciples had with Jesus. It does not mean we can't transfer them to our setting, but I look forward to a study that combines both. For example, Paul and the apostles stayed from place to place making disciples, but never traveled with one of them for 3 years. In most cases, they stayed for only a few days or weeks. They wrote letters and visited, but again these were short trips. But they did have the apostles'teachings that they could leave with them... like we do today and they had the Holy Spirit indwelling.

   exactly!
The epilogue is a terrific summary for all writers, as it paints what is supposed to look like this. In a church setting, the pastor needs a group of people in whom he invests, who then teach others to also teach others... 2 tim 22!

One of the best Jesus books ever.
This is hands down one of the best books I ever encountered in the life and ministry of Jesus. It is informative, to the point and very concise. For any of you out there who want to live more like Jesus or desire to have a ministry modeled more after Him and His ways, this is definitely the book for you. The price is right, believe me, it won 't disappoint.

   Great manual for evangelism
I like this book ''. I would recommend it for anyone who is interested in the principles behind Jesus Christ'; Evangelism to the whole world. It gets very granular about the disciples in Christ'; his relationship to them and the result of this discipleship in Christ. Some of the language is kind of dense filled with concepts from one word or two words that will require attention. It does get a bit dry at times, but keeps going predictably. I like the amount of Scripture at my reference. I like how the application can be made for the world of today.
