Use of too many exotic ingredients
Derived From Web , Dec 15, 2021
For these teens, not a problem. Their inventory is however unlikely to include Kaffir lime leaves, Juniper berries, Blue Magoo flower, purple microradish leaves, Nasturtium leaves, and the list goes on... An experienced cook would find an adequate substitute, but even a teen who knows his way around the kitchen would not want to bother with it. I added a note to the Grandkids to find an item they do not have and to research a substitute.

Appropriate for advanced teen cooks - not kids
Derived From Web , Oct 7, 2020
My children ages 5 and 8 love to cook and love to watch the Master Chef. But like most humans, they are not ready to cook Beef Wellington or the other highly advanced recipes in this book. The recipes are great, but are made for children in no way. Might be appropriate for advanced teen cooks and certainly for adults who want to experiment with high-end recipes and niche ingredients. My kids were excited to receive this as a gift because they love the show and cook it, but in three months we have yet to make a recipe from it, because they are far too out of reach for most. And this is from a house where we love to cook spicy, internationally diverse cuisine. Not for us, and I would imagine not for 99% of the children.

Some recipes unrealistic
Derived From Web , Jan 4, 2019
This bought me this for my son, who is into cooking. Some of the recipes are unrealistic, e.g. those calling for venison or alligator meat. If I have the effort to cook these ingredients or find something with Kobe beef, I am probably not using a recipe from this book.

Gave as a gift to a 12yr old aspiring chef!
Derived From Web , Jul 29, 2018
This for my nephew, who mastered basic cooking techniques, bought it. He loves the cookbook because the recipes are more advanced and are things he could serve adults. If you are looking for a basic cooking book for children, this isn t it. This is perfect for a child who has aspirations of being a chef.

actual Masterchef in your house and/or you are willing to buy it and do them together then this is a great book.
Derived From Web , Feb 22, 2018
This is a beautiful looking cookbook, but I should have listened to the other reviewers... my 8-year-old daughter loves Masterchef, but these recipes are WAY too difficult to make or even attempt on her own. These are really advanced! And not real, actual meals, but if you have a child friendly masterchef in your house and/or you are willing to buy it and do it together, this is a great book.

I wouldn’t recommend this for a teen cook unless they’re training to ...
Derived From Web , Dec 28, 2017
I was looking for something a little more difficult than macaroni and cheese, but certainly not lobster and beef tenderloin. I wouldn 't recommend this for a professional cook unless they train to be a teen chef. Parents - make sure you have a healthy food budget, because almost every recipe requires expensive ingredients.
