Maus: A Survivor's Tale Part Ii: And Here My Troubles Began
Book Overview
The second installment of the Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel acclaimed as the most affecting and successful narrative ever done about the Holocaust (Wall Street Journal) and the first masterpiece in comic book history (The New Yorker).
A brutally moving work of art--widely hailed as the greatest graphic novel ever written--Maus recounts the chilling experiences of the author's father during the Holocaust, with Jews drawn as wide-eyed mice and Nazis as menacing cats. Maus is a haunting tale within a tale, weaving the author's account of his tortured relationship with his aging father into an astonishing retelling of one of history's most unspeakable tragedies. It is an unforgettable story of survival and a disarming look at the legacy of trauma.- This item: Maus: A Survivor's Tale Part Ii: And Here My Troubles Began$4.90

Outstanding insights into the holocaust experience, told in a comic book form.
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
I like comic books and graphic novels. I learned a lot of French from reading, and was an avid reader of Classics Illustrated as a boy. Art's father told him about his family's experience of the holocaust in a graphic novel, which was the best insight into what it was like to be a victim. There were social situations in Germany and central europe at that time. The book would not be inappropriate for a teen reader. I've read both books twice and it stands the test of time. It is really worthwhile. I salute you. There is a man named Spiegelman.

Touching and brilliant. The idea of rendering this story in comic book form is very clever. The fact that it is a true story makes it even more unique.

Best Comic Book About the Haulocast

I don't understand why a school district in Tennessee wouldn't allow eighth graders to read this book since there are more violent women on the streets. This book is not a bad book.

If it's banned, read it!

Some people don't want their children to learn about the Holocaust. A Holocaust survivor has written and illustrated a story in black and white. He tells his father's story about using cats to depict Nazis and Jews. It won a Pulitzer in 1992 but was banned by a group for middle school students. We remember those times when we were younger. The history needs to be kept for generations because it is told by people who lived it. It is worth a read for all who can read.
