Can visions of treats entice a porcine wonder to wear her princess costume? Hold on for some Halloween havoc, Mercy Watson-style

When the Watsons decide to zip their porcine wonder into a formfitting princess dress for Halloween--complete with tiara--they are certain that Mercy will be beautiful beyond compare. Mercy is equally certain she likes the sound of trick-or-treating and can picture piles of buttered toast already. As for the Lincoln Sisters next door, how could they know that their cat would lead them all on a Halloween parade of hysterical proportions? Kate DiCamillo's beguiling pig is back in a tale full of treats, tricky turns, hijinks, and high humor.

   Mercy me!
I was recommended these particular DiCamillo books by a beginner reader as they are well-written and catch attention. Our niece is old for this book, but the stories are silly, funny and have meaning. In fact, our niece began to appreciate the author's writing. I always talk of the 'creative brain' or ask how did she think of this story! Now she has read these books and we have helped her move on to a more matured reading of Winn Dixie,' said Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is a great way to engage the non-reader. I think the book is a little more engaging for a younger child, unless the child is not strong in reading, then try this and then move on, she said.

   Great for early elementary kids
It's great to have a book that my first grader absolutely loves. The book features colorful illustrations by Frank Stella. The whole thing is a great story, said Blair. The reading level is a little above her for reading alone, but it was perfect for her to read a page here and there and for me to read the rest, Morgenthau said. The book is divided into four sections: chapter one, which doesn't require any reading, makes a first grader feel sophisticated because she's reading a chapter book.

   Great series
We're huge fans of the Harry Potter series, and we love the Mercy Watson books. My kindergarten can't get enough of them. NBC also plans to renew the entire series.

Mercy Watson is the best pig in the world!!!
The book is a great read, too. The chapters are short and I liked that I could read the whole book myself without help, he said. There was a lot of action, and the pictures are wonderful and detailed, he said. She's a princess in her tutu, said the princess's mother, Grace. Allison, 3, is a first-grade student at the school.

   Mercey Watson - Pig Extraordinaire
There are four or five books left in the series, all wonderful. They both want me to read them every night. It's just that you can't go wrong with Nimrod.

We just love the toast with lots and lots of butter
We have read another Watson story, so my class was excited to read this one, too. We just love the toast with lots and lots of butter, Mr. Dhaliwal said. The fact that every book we have read ends with a toast feast seals the deal.

Mercy Watson or anything by Kate Dicamillo is a hit around here.
My kids absolutely LOVE all of Kate DiCamillo's books. My youngest children really love Mercy so when I saw this book available I had to buy it. Easy to follow, fun story, nice illustrations by Kate DiCamillo, another hit by the Italian writer. Thanks so much for putting in such wonderful work, Kate!

   Mercy is our FAVORITE!
I'm 5 years old and this is my girls favorite book series. Each chapter leaves you wondering what will happen next, the characters are lovable and the stories are humorous, too. Highly recommend.
