Great book

Daniel Daniel Segal writes in simple and memorable terms. I used it the first day to help a client of mine. I am a psychotherapist, but this book is readable for everyone interested in the human brain and how it functions emotionally.

Concise explanation of intersection of meditation and psychotherapy
Derived From Web , May 9, 2022
As a psychotherapist and yoga meditation guide, it provides a major explanation for the fact that all systems of meditation, indigenous as well as major, start from the observation of breathing. In Buddhism, it is called satti-patthana and in yoga, smriti-upathsana. It is where meditation begins and is also what makes all the other practices of yoga work. It is the simplest spiritual practice and also the most powerful. After reading two chapters, I was able to give a lecture on the neurobiology of yoga psychology. Immediately I bought two of Siegel's other books, as I have been looking for good work on the neuropsychology of meditation.

Outdated.

If you have no access to books published since 2010, it is possibly worth your time. Author lacks humility, likeability... and is clearly his own biggest fan.

1. Love the Content 2. Technical Problem with the Audio CD
Derived From Web , Sep 5, 2020
I greatly enjoy the content ''. I purchased the book and audio CD. I bought the audio CD so that I could rip the MP3 files to my iPhone so that I can listen to it while on the go. But I have a technical problem with the audio - CD. It performs in my car CD player, but does not play in my Mac CDDVD player. A device that will play other audio CDs, but not this. This is actually my second copy of the audio CD MindSight. A month ago, I bought my first MP3 audio version of the book. I returned it as if it was a defective CD. So, in order to get the job done, you must have a supervisor. The book is for sale. I would highly recommend them for content. But realize that you might only be able to listen to the CD in your car.

One of the best I've ever read

I always conceive about how the mind was created and processed in our brain, but it is all speculation. This book answers almost all my questions.

Best Book on the Brain Out There
Derived From Web , Jul 14, 2018
This is a fantastic book and should be mandatory reading for anyone who engages with other human beings - so EVERYONE! I learned so much about why I do and say the things I do, but maybe more importantly, it has given me an understanding and empathy for why other people behave the way they do. It is a bit heady, especially in the first section on brain anatomy, but you can easily skip this section and still enjoy the benefits of the book.
