Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

This collection gathers together every short story featuring one of Agatha Christie's most famous creations: Miss Marple. Described by her friend Dolly Bantry as the typical old maid of fiction, Miss Marple has lived almost her entire life in the sleepy hamlet of St. Mary Mead. Yet, by observing village life she has gained an unparalleled insight into human nature--and used it to devastating effect. As her friend Sir Henry Clithering, the ex- Commissioner of Scotland Yard, has been heard to say: She's just the finest detective God ever made--and many Agatha Christie fans would agree.

A great read to keep by the bed
I was not sure what to expect. I'm a big fan of Agatha Christie's work, but Miss Marple wasn't a part of it. I was eager to check out the Hercule Poirot short story collection as well. The other mentioned collection is larger than this edition. The material of the book is very thin, which worries me, but I haven't had any problems and I'm probably half way through the book. A good fast read is the short stories.

Christie Still Delights...After All These Years.
The collection of short stories I read decades ago. They were enjoyed then and now. There are short stories for those who criticized character development. Only a small amount of depth can be put in. The author's decision to repeat the setting gives them more time to get to know the characters. For those who like to solve mysteries, remember that these were written in a different century and have an English setting. Some facts that would have been known to readers back then may not be known to you now. If you forget that fact, you may feel cheated when you get to the reveal. The whodunit would have been solved by those who were modern to the writing. If you keep in mind the time and setting, they are nice little brainteasers for Christie fans.

So much fun! A great way to get through a rough patch of public health.
I have been looking at the authors that introduced me to libraries while under house arrest. The first book I checked out was The Red Roan Pony by Will Smith and the second was by Agatha Christy. Her books made me read more. By my junior year. Guide To Greece by the ancient Greek guy who wrote the first travel book, Passaneus, was one of the books I read in the library. I will try to find that again. It was great.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK- Miss Marple IS MISSING
Agatha Christie and Miss Marple have always been my favorites. A collection of 50 short stories of Miss Marple was featured on the cover of this book. I couldn't see the Miss Marple story. There is a collection of weird stories. I take a dim view of the description given by the seller, and consider it a deception. I'm very disappointed in AMAZON.

   A Great Agatha Christie Collection
This collection of Miss Marple tales should be enjoyed by anyone who likes Agatha Christie. These clever, imaginative stories featuring the sleuth are some of Christie's most cherished short stories. The Miss Marple mysteries are in a single volume. The author of Rosewater and Satire: Stories of Jennifer K. Lafferty.

The stories are great, but there are some discontinuities in the Kindle ...
There are some discontinuities in the stories. There is a missing sentence just after the first time the word Hydro appears. The first time Mr. Faulkener is mentioned in the file, he is referring to a previous time he was mentioned, and that time is missing. I don't know how many more glitches there are, but it's disappointing. Someone is supposed to do quality control.

A lovely and oh so British collection of mysteries
My wife and I enjoyed the book. Each story is about the right length for our commute. There isn't enough mystery in this book for the reader to figure it out. In the big flashy ending where MarpleHercule pulls a rabbit out of a hat to solve the case, they are both similar. The clever little endings are still enjoyable to read.
