   Hope in a book!
A friend who is a therapist suggested that I read this book. I thought it would be dry and boring, but it was just that. It is easy to understand that the writers are not condescending but caring in their approach to offering help and healing.

   Amazing!
If you want to learn how to be supportive to other people without solving all their problems, this book is for you. Giving them insight into how to solve their own problems is what it's about. The objective is to learn how to give feedback and be a good listener. If you' re in a field that requires you to help others in any way, or if you' re just the kind of person that gravitates towards helping others in general, I recommend this important and stimulating read!

   Comprehensive but not user friendly
Motivational interviewing is all about helping your audience. Speaking in a way that relates to your audience is what it is all about. This book is very good at laying the foundations of Motivational interviewing in a comprehensive way, but it misses the mark when it comes to doing what it claims to be teaching The book is not very friendly. It was very hard to read through the book and learn something practical. I don't recommend this book to anyone who can handle an academic style publication. I think it's even better for people with previous experience in the field.

   Motivational Interviewing
A wonderful book. I recently completed an introductory course in Motivational Interviewing and found the book very useful. Reality Therapy is my main theoretical orientation, but I have found interviewing to be an easily integrated set of techniques for almost any counseling style. MI appears to offer a set of techniques that fit well with the limitations often placed on counselors by managed care. Progress is relativly fast when people are motivated to change. The challenge is getting them ready. The book meets the challenge.

   the tunnel's light
It's a great book. It grabs your attention and it's a pleasure to read, because it moves an inside switch and the light comes at you. You can explore more and more reasons of addiction, alcoholism, etc, and you can create a thesis as life's situation changes around. Those who have decided to explore and understand the activities inside of us should do so.

Very small font, hard to read
I didn't like this one very much. It was too small with little white space. It was used for $3 when I bought it. The authors are the best in their field. It was a second edition. What are they thinking? The third edition is out for $50. For most, went to UTube for highlights. Motivational interviewing is very effective.

An important skill for a counselor
I have owned at least two or three copies of this book in the past. I can't tell you how good that version is because I was too cheap to make it. This version covers the basics of MI, and it is enough for most of us.

   Motivational Interviewing
This practice is widely used. The method of getting more bees with honey is well presented in the book.

   Must-read for influencing people
This is a great book. It's important to know how to talk to people so they can make good decisions. There are step- by- step examples of how to carry it out. This is a great book for anyone who wants to change people's lives.
