GASLIT LONDON IS BROUGHT TO ITS KNES IN DAVID MOREL'S BRILIANT HISTORICAL THRILER.
Thomas De Quincey, infamous for his memoir Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, is the major suspect in a series of ferocious mass murders identical to ones that terrorized London forty-three years earlier.
The blueprint for the killings seems to be De Quincey's essay -On Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts.- Desperate to clear his name but crippled by opium addiction, De Quincey is aided by his devoted daughter Emily and a pair of determined Scotland Yard detectives.
In Murder as a Fine Art, David Morrell plucks De Quincey, Victorian London, and the Ratcliffe Highway murders from history. Fogbound streets become a battleground between a literary star and a brilliant murderer, whose lives are linked by secrets long buried but never forgotten.

   Captivating!
This book was very good. The author has done a great job of explaining how things worked in this time period. Most authors will use words from that time period without explaining what they mean, but this author did a great job. I like a story that is based on real events and the story that was exciting and well thought out was one of my favorites. Looking forward to the next one!

Gripping mystery filled with period detail.
It was a pleasure to read. An author who takes great care of his work is shown by the period detail and character development. I was reluctant to put the book down for more than an hour because of the absorbing mystery at the center of the book, a series of mass murders that mimic crimes committed four decades before. It was atmospheric, eerie, violent and unforgettable. I look forward to more in this series.

Great Book - Condition and Pricing Not What Expected
The book was one of the best mysteries read in years despite the graphic nature, and I was hoping to get a good, clean, reasonably priced copy to my library. It was almost like new because of the precipitation. A book that was over $7 was provided by the seller that had a sticker on the back. It was stuck firmly, so I tried to remove it. I decided it was way too expensive. by 50%. The covers, spine, and page edges were bent and folded, possibly made worse by AMAZON's ship in a too large thinly padded envelope - the book was sliding around after I pulled it out stuffed in my mailbox Shame on AMAZON for their handling. The price and condition were not what I was expecting. Returned back.
