To learn bass, I bought two different books. This book is the easier to follow. The companion Youtube videos paired with the book have been great for learning because fitting lessons in person into my budget and schedule is difficult. This is the next best thing to do.

   Intended for the Serious Player
I bought this book several months ago and I did not like it. At first, the video demos were cumbersome to understand and I didn 't use the theory part. I was not ready for it. After spending a lot of time with the bass, getting a grasp on music theory and playing with other musicians, I now know what the author is saying and trying to teach. I am glad that I have this book. For me it is now the perfect material to practice and apply the techniques that the author has presented. The bass is an amazing instrument, the more I know about it and what it can do, the more fun I have with it. This book will help you to bring more.

Great is all i can say!!
For 26 years, I have been a bass player. I have always followed the root notes and played what I thought sounded good with the songs written by my bands. After reading this book, doing the exercises and then watching Ariane's Pentatonic Playground video, I feel like I have a whole new understanding of bass. I read several books and watched numerous instructional videos, and Ariane's teachings have been the best. Easy to understand and follow. If you are a bass player, buy this book. You won 't regret it.

   What is everybody smoking?
The book says to not do the answers before looking at the quizzes, and that there is no reason to look ahead, as all quizzes are based on already presented information. Then it proceeds to quiz things that have not been mentioned or explained. This is a terrible book with valid information poorly executed. Returned for a refund.

   Great investment in yourself
I took lessons, but the theory is not my instructors'strong suit. , I found that I asked why a lot. Why Choose These Notes ''. This book brings together a lot of these pieces. It presents the material in a logical way, though sometimes I find that the Aha! is the simplest for me! A moment later comes when other pieces begin to fall into place. I have reached out several times through email to Ari and has always been kind with her time, responses, and encouragement. If you are looking for a book to help make sense of it all, this is the one. Remember there is no magical book page, chapter, book. But if you are willing to invest the time with this book, it will be worth it. At the point where I think I'm doing things for an instant without thinking about them. The latter is very encouraging.

Fantastic book for the bass player.
After trying different websites that used tabs, I wanted to learn more about theory and this book had great reviews. Bought the book and haven t been disappointed. Ariane walks you through the process and explains it clearly. With tabs you can play a tune, this book shows you how and why. Two things I would recommend reading all the way through first. It helps you become familiar with the layout of the book. As another reviewer recommended, take the book to Staples or similar and have it bound by spiral. Ariane thanks.

I am a beginning bass player but pretty experienced in theory
Hi, I am a beginning bass player, but pretty experienced in theory. I like the step by step guidance through the essentials of theory on the harder elements. I use this book as a memorization tool, practice tool along with what I learn from lessons and a go-to on how to play almost anything I need to know. It can only help you in gaining playing and theory knowledge.
