Amazing!

This book is truly amazing, said Janet. The whole thing is amazing, said Paul. I tried coloring the water dragon with alcohol markers and colored pencils, but the result was too watery. It looks great but the ink bleeds through the page so if you don't mind messing with an adjacent image then give it a try. I purchased a second book to give to my boyfriend because he really likes it. I color for hours in this book and haven't lost interest, he said.

Lots of wonderful fantasy based creatures

There are a generous number of intricate and fantastical creatures with lots of surprises when you study them closely. Four stars only because I think it is a shame that these wonderful creatures and scenes are put on double sided paper. It pretty much relegates the coloring to either colored pencils or crayons since most gel pens and markers will bleed through to the other side. It also means you can't really frame them because they are two sided. Also, as some others have commented, there are a lot of repeated fish, mussels and clams. One drawing for example may have 30 fish which can be repetitive for coloring. It's a beautiful book, but I would have to buy it again.

I really like most of the pictures in this book, Rosa said. They are not over textured, but are still highly detailed. The pictures are printed on both sides of the paper. Even if I use colored pencils, I get imprinted on the back. I like the double spreads, but with the type of binding it seems like you lose some of each picture. There are some great coloring pages in this book, too. I have been looking for some decent adult coloring books and am so happy to have found them, said Gammerman.

The illustrations are gorgeous, and the book is so much fun to color. It feels high quality, but felt-tipped markers or sharpies will bleed through the page.

Faber Castell Polychromos

Kerby Rosanes's first coloring book was a hit. I have been using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils and they look so pretty on this paper. Don't use Copics on these pages unless you have a good reason. I ordered more Kerby Rosanes books and will be doing reviews of those as well in the future.
