National Audubon Society Field Guide To North American Birds--E: Eastern Region - Revised Edition
Book Overview
Introduced in 1977 and completely revised in 1994, these bestselling photographic field guides have become the birding bibles of more than four million enthusiasts. Virtually every bird found in North America is brought to life in a full-color photograph and with textual information on the bird's voice, nesting habits, habitat, range, and interesting behaviors. Accompanying range maps; overhead flight silhouettes; sections on bird-watching, accidental species, and endangered birds make these the most comprehensive field guides to birds available.

Outstanding Guide for Everyone
Derived From Web , Apr 20, 2022
This is the guidebook, and this is the first of the recently updated editions. For those who like a reference that they can hold in their hands, it does not get any better. In conjunction with the Audubon app, it is really all you need to start identifying birds in the field.

Handy resource
Derived From Web , Apr 5, 2021
I just received this book, and it covers way more birds from the eastern United States than my previous bird guide. The photos that make up the first half of the book are very good, and the second half of the book gives a lot of detail about habitat, voice, description, nesting, range and other details pertinent to each bird. The back of the book has a key to finding the bird you are looking for in the book. The only problem I have with this book is common to all bird books I own, the bird is pictured only from one angle. I know that to do otherwise would actually double the size of the book, but I would be willing to pay for it! I often see birds from above or behind and having only a side view eliminates certain identifiers. I am a new birder so I need all the help I can get! That said, it is a fine book at a great price and I look forward to going through it!

Great photos, but be aware "East" means east of the Rockies and not just east coast
Derived From Web , Jun 20, 2020
Love the photos and like how similar birds are grouped together. Do not like that so many birds in the book are not located on the east coast, but are considered birds of the east because they are in the eastern 23's of the USA.

The best bird book
Derived From Web , Jan 18, 2020
I have many bird books, both identification guides and information about bird behavior. This classic is by far the best when it comes to information gathering in a portable size. It is perfect for carrying in a pocket or a backpack for use in the field. I have given many as gifts and I have worn a few myself. If you want to buy only one bird book, this is it.

Easiest to use for a novice birder!
Derived From Web , Mar 8, 2019
This book is typical of Audubon books, with photos that are logically ordered by habit, that refer to text pages that include complete descriptions, range maps, nesting habits and more. I am new to this and also have a National Geographic Field Guide, which includes the whole of North America. I have a exact glance and don 't have enough information to look at the exact bird species up there. I don 't know if it is a flycatcher or a warbler. I can see that it is yellow and perching. I can go with Audubon to the perching birds and look for the yellow grouping until I find my bird. The book has Audubon's typical heavy duty vinyl cover, which flexes nicely in the hand and is durable enough for years of use. Love and use it!

4 year old loves it!
Derived From Web , Dec 25, 2018
My best friends 4 year old loves animals and wildlife, so I bought him this book for Easter last year. I knew it would be advanced for him until he was older, but since it has the full color photos I figured it would be ok, plus this gave Mom and dad stuff to teach him. The kid LOVES it! Mom said they get it out at least a couple of times a week. They’ll see a bird fly by outside and he has to run inside and get his bird book so that they can see if it is in there. I plan on getting him others so that he has them all. As much as he loved that one, I am sure that he’ll love the rest as much as he will love the rest.

This product was supposedly new with just a bit or wiped pencil on the interior cover. It arrived damaged like this... apparently damaged during shipping. I am not returning, but I am not happy.

Great bird book
Derived From Web , Nov 2, 2018
The first one of these I bought for my father. He cataloged the birds in his yard using a real book, but decided he needed one with golden pictures. Then I purchased one of them and have learned so much about the birds on my feeders over the years. This one I bought for my godmother ; she also loves birds and bought the book as well. Bird watchers highly recommend. I am sure there are other books out there, but this is a great one!

I really like this book ''. We have just started feeding birds and I can easily look up what they are in the book by looking at the pictures and then reading them.
