   Beautiful Photography, Glum Writing
Rather than a celebration of the parks, this book is almost as a compendium of every possible threat to them. Every entry, it seems, spends as much time discussing climate change, acid rain, roads, alien plants and animals, chemicals in the water and bad people in general as it does the parks themselves. I'm all for using books like these to promote conservation, but this strikes an odd tone for a coffee table book.
If you're trying to buy this for a book, or perhaps a table, don't bother. Amazon will probably screw it up, throw it in a box, or at least try to make it seem like it did. My son loves national parks, so it's for our own use, but for a pricey coffee table book, I'm pretty ticked off. Just shrink it, already. What a waste of time, energy and money.
   This is a luxury book.
We bought this as a present for friends of ours that love to travel, Raymond said. This is a great deal for the game of basketball. The book is beautiful, too. Professional photographers, current and historical figures, and all manner of useful information.
   Inspirational and Amazing
I've read all the books, but this is by far the best. Have barely been able to put it down and have found it to be just the right amount of history, science data and tables, geography and location photos. I've been to many of our national parks, but am inspired to visit more, perhaps all of them, Mr. Dhaliwal said. I have a few coffee table books but this one truly reigns supreme and will be on display and ready for any visitor who has the interest.
A great book filled with the beauty and practical information about the National Parks.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good read. We have been to many of the western parks, some by ourselves, but this book helped us see these and the other parks in a new light. If there is a downside to the book, it is in the size of the book. Its a hefty read, but I think it needs to be for the pictures, maps, and writing. Some of the parks deserved probably the more extensive coverage of the main section, but they couldn't include them all at that scale and the criteria used was fair, Mr. O'Neill said. Great job overall, said Dave Hein, executive director of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
