My 4 yr old loves absolutely this book. She pulls it almost every day for us to read or just enjoy the pictures. She has been inspired to go on rock-spending walks and even started writing her own little book to show her favorites. Excellent for children interested in the world around them.

Rocks, Minerals,Shells—Oh My
Derived From Web , Aug 6, 2021
I bought this book for my grandkids and love it so much. I live by the ocean and find myself reading every shell and rock since examining this book with increased interest and knowledge. I especially loved learning about the beautiful sea creatures that live in such amazing and diverse shells.

Beautiful and interesting content
Derived From Web , Jul 21, 2021
Absolutely beautiful photos, as you would expect from a national geographic book, we were especially excited to receive this book, since my husband's undergrad was in geology, he liked the book as well. The information was good and I was excited to talk about a couple of the rocks with our 5 year old that they hadn't previously discussed. My 2 complaints is that this book seems to be bound on cheaper paper and less securely than the other 6 or so books in this series we own. My 5 year old caused a small tear turning pages and he wasn 't rough. The binding already looks like it might be loose and I've read it once aloud and my 5 year old has puffed through it twice independently-some of the others in this series we've owned for over 2 years and have gotten tons of use and hold better than 2 days with this particular copy.

Do you love rocks and minerals?
Derived From Web , Jul 14, 2021
This young book by National Geographic Kids introduces new readers, who love geology, to the world of rocks, minerals and shells. The four chapters in this guide teach children what rocks and shells are and minerals too. Kids can learn about what famous buildings are made of rocks and types. There are common uses for minerals and readers will explore some of their specific uses. Some rocks become gemstones when polished and there are sections on seashells that have homes for some animals. This handy guide is perfect for capturing the interest of the young rock and seashell enthusiasts. Learning the rock cycle will help readers understand more about the Earth, the Lava and how rocks were used to build things like the pyramids.
