I caught myself rereading my favorite parts. and I can't recommend it enough. -- New York Times

You know that feeling when you're at work, and you've had enough of people, and then the boss walks in with yet another job that needs to be done right this second or the world will end, but all you want to do is go home and binge your favorite shows? And you're a sentient murder machine programmed for destruction? Congratulations, you're Murderbot.

Come for the pew-pew space battles, stay for the most relatable A.I. you'll read this century.

--

I'm usually alone in my head, and that's where 90 plus percent of my problems are.

When Murderbot's human associates (not friends, never friends) are captured and another not-friend from its past requires urgent assistance, Murderbot must choose between inertia and drastic action.

Drastic action it is, then.

Such a letdown... I had an emotion.
Murderbot is good, but book 5 is a mess. It doesn't have the same characteristics that made the first 4 so wonderful. There are too many words that serve to confuse and misquote. Where is the smart editor on this one? We don't need a long novel. We need a good Murderbot story.

A Strong Extension to One Of the Best Series in Sci Fi.
I stumbled on to the first Murderbot diary a few years ago. It has been the most enjoyable reading experience in a long time. Murderbot is well conceived, and the development of its character has grown and evolved as the series has progressed, and it is always backed up with a hard sci- fi edge. Ms. Wells has created a future in space where corporations call the tune and the independent spirit has a hard time with it. Murderbot is a brilliant commentary on what it means to be a slave or to be free. It's funny and human, and just a joy to live through. I just finished her most recent book in the series and I have to wait for the next one. There will be a next one.

A decent addition to the series, but has some serious issues
This is an action film. It subverts the characters. Stick with more short stories, Martha. The story and character development was much better in those. This is damaged by poor editing that tries to remove the human interest and add more action. This will cut the size of the audience, so it needs to be more careful about its investments. The novellas sold this novel, but they have to sell the next one.

   Brilliant, just brilliant
She gives us a story that takes it to the next level instead of just knocking out a potboiler to take advantage of Murderbot's popularly. I'm in awe of the author's ability. To make three, three. Totally believable worlds are amazing. I am not aware of any other author that could come close. We are going to have another Murderbot. This is fantastic news. Would it be greedy to ask for an extra Ile Rien? If you like Murderbot, you will love this.

   Amazing
The story is complicated and satisfying. It's a good idea to read the novellas first, but once you do, it's a really good new story. The story can be on a larger scale if there is a whole novel's space to unfold. It's compact and complex. Fantastic story.
