A breathtaking, enchanting new series by debut author Jessica Townsend, about a cursed girl who escapes death and finds herself in a magical world--but is then tested beyond her wildest imagination
Morrigan Crow is cursed. Having been born on Eventide, the unluckiest day for any child to be born, she's blamed for all local misfortunes, from hailstorms to heart attacks--and, worst of all, the curse means that Morrigan is doomed to die at midnight on her eleventh birthday.
But as Morrigan awaits her fate, a strange and remarkable man named Jupiter North appears. Chased by black-smoke hounds and shadowy hunters on horseback, he whisks her away into the safety of a secret, magical city called Nevermoor.
It's then that Morrigan discovers Jupiter has chosen her to contend for a place in the city's most prestigious organization: the Wundrous Society. I was surprised by the amount of love I had for this book. The main character, Morrigan was believable and was going on a journey with us the reader. Morrigan was sarcastic in a way. I love that type of humor. Jupiter wasn't crazy enough to be absurd. The way the found family was used was sweet. There were elements of magic in the book. There was a mystery and it was fun. Growth was also shown by them. No matter how old you are, I recommend that you read this. It is enjoyable.

So entertaining and fun!
Derived From Web , May 19, 2019
This was a wonderful read. The story of Morrigan is about a cursed child who believes she is. Everyone blamed her for everything when it wasn't her fault. She persevered through all the negative things. She had a great relationship with Jupiter. He was funny and silly. He helped her overcome her fears. I liked Fen the Magnificat and Hawthorne. The bright characters added some spunk to the story. It is a wonderful story for both children and adults. My daughter is definitely being made to read this.

One for all ages.
Derived From Web , Jun 26, 2018
I read a middle grade book and feel like it lacked something that made it relevant to all ages. I didn't feel that way about the book. This book can be enjoyed by both children and adults. I wasn't sure what to expect at the beginning of the book. As the story line began to take place and we met some important characters, the book became more and more intriguing. I began to pick up the pace on how fast I devoured this. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

I read a middle grade book many times and feel like it didn't have something that made it relevant to all ages. I didn't feel that way about this book. This book can be enjoyed by both children and adults and has wit. I didn't know what to expect at the start of the book. As the story line began to take place and we met some characters that are important to the story line, the book became more and more exciting. I started to pick up the pace on how fast I devoured this. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
