The pages are so thin and difficult to work with, even with specialized equipment, Sosa said. I ended up with the kindle version and used that instead of the printed book.

If you are looking for an easy read this is probably the wrong Bible for you. If you want very enlightening annotations, explanations, and discussions of alternative interpretations of the Bible, then this is a great choice. Like it or not, I like it. The book is considered and Ecumenical Study Bible, which means it was written with the intention of having no bias against any particular sect or religion. It is the complete Bible, with the Apocrypha. It has incredible details, comments, insights, and even tangential conversations that I had not considered before. If I had to choose between two fonts, I would prefer the larger one to make reading easier. The book already has almost 2400 pages, and is printed on thin paper. It would also make it possible to double the font's thickness. This is a good trade-off, he said. It's just that I put my reading glasses on and deal with it.

This book is a marvel, multiple gifts in one package. A marvel of scholarship, organization, printing, and Biblical writings. The notes and information before each book helps give a frame of reference, and the internal notes help clarify the texts and give insight into what varying expert theological opinions are regarding different items.

If you are serious about studying the Bible from an academic and historical perspective, this edition from Oxford University Press is probably the one to get. The New Standard edition of James's book does not exactly match the beauty of the King James, but it reads well enough and is pretty understandable. The book is pretty dense and has thin paper, but it's hard to complain since this is a steal at around $30 considering the scholarship you are getting, it added.
