Fantastic book
Alaina S , Sep 27, 2022
This is by far one of my favorite books. It is written in a dual timeline, dual character perspective, which is really intriguing and it moves the story really quickly, making it very easy to jump into and very hard to put down. The two main characters are so interesting and complex and as you read through it, you uncover so many more elements to them. It's a book about survival and struggle, while the characters work through a complicate and interwoven story of mystery in a magical modern day world. The ending is such a great pay off, and I literally cannot wait until the sequel is released.

Did not even finish it.
Derived From Web , Oct 27, 2019
I am very disappointed. I was excited to try out a new author in this book. It was ordered in hardback. I tried so hard to read it. The book didn't impress me. I became frustrated with how boring and confusing it was. The buyers were hurt by the fact that this book was one that I could not read. I don't trust the early reviews and hype enough to read a new book.

Was I reading the same book?
Derived From Web , Oct 26, 2019
This book is terrible and I rarely write reviews. I am not sure what everyone else is reading. I skimmed the rest by page 300. I couldn't comprehend what was happening with the book bouncing around. It made my head ache. It's not clear who the characters are or their purpose. It wasn't interesting and didn't like any of the characters. If you' re not into it by page 200, give up and file it away. There are many more books to read.

Couldn't get interested enough to finish it
Derived From Web , Oct 18, 2019
We' re often told not to review a book if we' re not finished reading it. A purchaser at full price abandoned a book about a quarter of the way through because it was boring and confusing.

WOW

This book is wonderful. The end is perfect, and it rarely happens. It seems slow at the beginning and you may be confused, but it picks up and doesn't stop. I want this to be a series because I can't get enough of Alex, Darlington and Dawes. Don't think twice about buying. You won't be able to put it down if you click it.

Disappointed
Derived From Web , Oct 10, 2019
I regret buying Ninth House in hardcover, but I didn't regret buying the Six of Crows in hardcover. Most of the praise blurbs are from horror writers. I agree with the author that it's considered adult because of the structure, but I think it's because of the sex and graphic violence. It is similar to earlyAnitaBlake, minus Vampires. I don't know if it's an effort to break out of the epic fantasy box or just another magic at college book, but this is really just another magic at college book. It's told in flashbacks, so you' re out of the story. It is more about survival and privilege than growing up. It is completely young adult. I don't think it's worth paying hardcover prices for if it becomes a series.

Leigh Bardugo knocks it out of the park again!
Derived From Web , Oct 9, 2019
I' ve been a fan of Bardugo since I read Shadow and Bone. I was excited when she said she would be writing an adult book. Drug addiction, mental health, and corruption are some of the big issues it deals with very well. The story had me on the edge of my seat and the characters are well developed. Absolutely recommend!
