The Bible was originally written to an ancient people removed from us by thousands of years and thousands of miles. The Scriptures include subtle culturally based nuances, undertones, and references to ancient events, literature and customs that were intuitively understood by those who first heard the Scriptures read. For us to hear the Scriptures as they did, we need a window into their world.
The NKJV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible, with notes from Dr. John H. Walton (Wheaton College) in the Old Testament and Dr. Craig S. Keener (Asbury Theological Seminary) in the New Testament, brings to life the Read More chevron_right

Be careful reading John Walton material. He is a gnostic "scholar"
Derived From Web , Aug 31, 2021
This is not directed at the buyer, but one of the authors of the commentary is John H Walton. He should not be writing this article as a sceptic and gnostic himself. I thought I was reading about how the isrealites viewed the Bible, but it was only Walton's views on the Bible from a pagan perspective during the history of the narratives. There is also very interesting commentary where he says that the Exodus events were in doubt and no evidence has been found. Intuite's Christian scholarship, I laugh at this cause, Timothy Mahoney has found tons of evidence that rejects biblical paradigms. This is not a reflection of the Amazon seller, but of the authors of toxic commentary on non-believer perspectives.

Hardback and great price from godless commies!
Derived From Web , Jun 8, 2021
This is the hardcover version of the Bible that Jarrin Jackson uses to teach his compelling Bible study on Rumble and DLive. I like the readable print size, the words of Jesus in red, the printed helpful commentary and the center column giving other related scripture citations to the verses studied on the page. It is a bit heavy to carry, so I keep this Bible at home to use in Jarrin's online studies and other studies at home. I have a Thinline Bible for use away from home needs.

Impressive achievement on a very needed fascet of the Bible study process
Derived From Web , Dec 18, 2019
The more I am using it, the more impressed I am. The editors are top scholars and have given their all to this effort. You won 't believe how useful the notes are until you decide to study a topic or passage. The color graphics, charts and illustrations make it user-friendly. If you are a visual learner, you will appreciate this greatly. I recommend you get one in a common version of the Bible other than your Bible. This way you get more for your money, Great Notes and a different version to compare yours.

Bought Kindle version, it works perfect for me!
Derived From Web , Sep 27, 2018
After reading One-Star reviews about the Kindle version of this Bible some time ago, I decided not to buy it, but I wanted it so bad that I couldn t get it out of my mind. I thought I would give it a try anyway and bought it. To my surprise and relief, it has been downloaded without any problems and I can open and navigate it without any problems on my Kindle at all.

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH KINDLE (my experience was it kept reinstalling and rebooting Kindle device, never could open book).
Derived From Web , May 1, 2018
This review does not refer to the content, but rather the kindle version. Once I downloaded it to my kindle, it kept installing and rebooting my kindle each time I clicked on that book. Never seen this happen and have used Kindle for years. Tried it on my I-Phone kindle app and opened fine. E-book returned for a refund. I buy a hard copy of the book from Amazon. I know the author from the Bible College and commend his exceptional character and godly scholarship. Jesus has a real intimate relationship with Craig Keener.

Love it!!!!
Derived From Web , Apr 11, 2018
This book has tons of information that allows you to have a better understanding of the scriptures. The author gives exactly what is promised in the title, the background of when the scripture was written, which helps put things in perspective. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the Bible... The only downside is that, as stated by many before the pages are super thin,! When flipping through them, you have to be careful, because they can easily get messed up.

A lot of help
Derived From Web , Jan 11, 2018
This is one of the best study Bibles I have and, having taken several theology courses recently, I now have half-a-dozen Bibles. I take this with me to my Bible study at the Church on Wednesday nights and several others now in the group have purchased their own because it helps so much in understanding the Scriptures. It is well put together, the print could be a little larger, but as there is so much information added, it is a pretty heavy book, so I can understand why the print is the size it is.

This study bible does not attempt to dictate particular interpretations ...
Derived From Web , Nov 26, 2017
This Bible study does not attempt to impose on the reader specific interpretations of the Scripture, as too many I have seen. Instead, it gives background and context and lets you evaluate how this context should affect the proper interpretation of the passage you are studying. It is therefore for people looking for the opportunity to study, not for people who want a predetermined interpretation.
