Book Overview

This Description may be from another edition of this product.

From the first federal agent to infiltrate the inner circle of the outlaw Hells Angels Motorcycle Club comes the inside story of the 21-month operation that almost cost him his family, his sanity, and his life.

Getting shot in the chest as a rookie agent, bartering for machine guns, throttling down the highway at 100 mph, and responding to a full-scale, bloody riot between the Hells Angels and their rivals, the Mongols--these are just a few of the high-adrenaline experiences Dobyns recounts in this action-packed, hard-to-imagine-but-true story.

Dobyns leaves no stone of his harrowing journey unturned. At runs and clubhouses, between rides and riots, Dobyns befriends bad-ass bikers, meth-fueled old ladies, gun fetishists, psycho-killer ex-cons, and even some of the Filthy Few--the elite of the Hells Angels who've committed extreme violence on behalf of their club. Eventually, at parties staged behind heavily armed security, he meets legendary club members such as Chuck Zito, Johnny Angel, and the godfather of all bikers, Ralph Sonny Barger. To blend in with them, he gets full-arm ink; to win their respect, he vows to prove himself a stone-cold killer.

Hardest of all is leading a double life, which has him torn between his devotion to his wife and children, and his pledge to Read More chevron_right

   but I've read worse.
I read the third undercover MC book that I've ever seen. I'm about half the way through and it takes longer than the other two. It is not as well written as the other two, but I read worse.

Not Only Unbelievably Believable, It's Factual
Dobyns did a fantastic job of making me feel like he was with him in the clubhouse, on the bike or in the precarious situations he faced. At times, very scary. Protecting the lives of his agents, bad parties and even the innocent, sometimes required that he walk a very fine line to avoid blowing his cover. This is a guy who was willing to take risks that most of us can only picture in our dreams. In the end, all goals of ATF were not achieved, but not for lack of effort on the part of Bird, Timmy, JJ and a myriad of other agents. The danger was still there, whether total success was achieved or not. Not only is NO ANGEL a page turner as far as readability, but it also gives the reader a close up view of some of the sacrifices made daily by those who protect the rest of us. Buy it, you 'll be glad that you did.

   Ok, book, was expecting more.
It was an ok book, I was expecting more criminal actions from the HA, but there was really not. I also feel like 2 years under cover and none of the HAs named in the book got more time than 7 months. The only guy who is still in prison has committed a murder, and Jay wasn 't around for it ; he just heard them talking about it, the other guy is still in hiding. Idk, it was just very monotonous and kind of hard to believe that Jay wore a wire the whole time and the HA never picked up on it.

   great book!
I have a lot of respect for the author, not only is he an exceptionally good and honest man, intelligent and quick on his feet, he is also a brave writer who does not hesitate to show his weaknesses. I have read many undercover books and this ranks as one of the very best.

Good at describing life as an undercover agent
Did not finish the book because it was monotonous after a while. Just my opinion ''.

   Boring!!!
Not much action taken. Just a collection of names and dates. Not worth the time it took to read this and make money.

Like Action Adventure? This is a Page Turner
Vielleicht you have seen the Hells Angels come riding by your bus on the way to San Francisco to celebrate the Chinese New Year. 42 motorcycles soaring close and loud and watched as every single person stopped on the bus immediately talking and most of them went Eyes Front and said nothing until they passed us. You have probably heard some stories about the HA and thought they might be Urban Legends, inflated by the retelling from person to person. If you are a curious driver, or if you want to take a look inside the HA motorcycle gang, this book will give it to you. If your only introduction to motorcycle gangs is Sons of Anarchy, which perhaps you enjoyed reading, see this book to see the background of where characters sprung to life in SOA. Remember, you can download a sample on Kindle to check if you will enjoy the book before you spend a dime!

   A boring disappointment
From this book, not much to learn. Dregs who can not make it in society so that they promote their own warped world. What is new else? Seems like the government has wasted a few years on this meaningless investigation. The author struck me as having some of his own mental problems.

   Amazing read!
From start to finish, this book is fascinating. Detailing the operation Black Biscuit in detail, many parts of which we knew as a public was amazing. The author is an amazing storyteller and relates his ordeal with no punches. I really liked it, and recommend it to anyone who likes true crime, biographies, even adventures.

   Hells Angel or undercover cop?
A cop story of an underground character who plays the game with the Hells Angels. He goes into their culture, gets his tattoos and assimilates and thinks their way of living and thinking. Had it gone wrong, this game could have cost him his marriage, his credibility and even his life. He is very honest about his feelings, his fears, his love for his family at an internal level, in a very primal way. With all he went through, his efforts came up short, but not because he didn 't do enough. The judiciary system wanted more and this is that. The HA way of life is based on loyalty first and family, wife, job, etc. secondary. The HA way of life is based on pain, sex, drugs and death. They are brave, they are powerful, and they are deadly. I HIGHLY recommend this book, and hope that the author finds peace in his life with himself and his family.
