A Strong Case Against Government Interference and "Group Think"
Mill was an atheist and decidedly anti-Christian, and I state this for those who need to bear this in mind before reading an essay on the world view. Despite this fact, John Stuart Mill would be most displeased with how Christians and religious conservatives are vilified these days. He is definitely not in favor of closing dissenting opinions or open discussions, and the book has some politically correct quotes that could be applied to the politically potent shenanigans of today. He makes a very strong case against the type of controversial tyranny that we see today with regard to prevailing opinions on soft topics. He clearly states that the protection provided by the government is not enough. There is also the tyranny of popular opinion towards unpopular opinion and that people should be protected from it as well. It is relevant and timely. Warning : The book is short, but is not an easy read. However, it is well worth it.

On Liberty should be required reading of all citizens
John Stuart Mill's reading of Liberty should be required for all citizens. Mill's philosophy forms the very basis of modern thinking about how much liberty people should be allowed to give themselves and to give others. This was very radical thinking in the 1800s, when he wrote the book. In many ways, I think he is still far ahead of his time and even the current times, we may catch him in another 50 to 100 years.

   Important to read
I don 't really know where to start here, but this work should be required reading for all who want to participate in a republic and to live in a society. Without understanding what liberty is and what one has to do to preserve it, one can not be a citizen of this country. We have far too many who have bandy slogans and words without having any idea of the meaning of these words and what it takes to maintain our type of government. Read this and take that debate away, listening is important. Liberty is not just a side for one.

   Fantastic, foundational philosophies
A great account of the principles of America's founding fathers in the elaborate essay by J. S. Mill. I have been meaning to read this for a while now, and it did not disappoint. Have your highlighter ready for some prose that is just as applicable today as during the American Revolution.

Unlike many books you would find
It is a rather tiring book than those that I enjoy reading. Quite long paragraphs and never ending sentences... I found it hard to follow at some places ''. I believe that this was just me accustomed to delegating one's attention over a short period of time, however, as I said, it was not for my taste. The ideas are put forward greatly.

Amazing insight into the human condition with regard to thought ...
Appearing to have been in print for over a hundred and fifty years, the author had an incredible clarity in explaining how the body politic encouraged opposing views in that day and age. The purpose of this was to sound the reasoning of each opinion. Today, this man would be assaulted or heckled for disagreeing with the far left if that were to be the case. A mind opener for sure.
